Advancements in Solar Energy: A New Plant in Sorocaba
On Monday, May 15, Sorocaba, a city in the interior of São Paulo, inaugurated the largest solar photovoltaic energy plant in carport format in Brazil. Located in the Alto da Boa Vista neighborhood, the plant has the potential to generate enough energy to supply the average consumption of 2,000 low-income households, a remarkable achievement for solar energy in the country.
Investment and Economy: A Look at the Future of Energy
The construction of the plant, which was designed by Viridian Ecoenergia, a company with more than a decade of experience in the market, was financed by a private investment of R$ 21 million. The plant is capable of generating about 4,500 MWh/year, a production that translates into savings of more than R$ 300 thousand per month.
Solar Energy and Sustainability: Reducing the Carbon Footprint
In addition to generating energy, Sorocaba’s solar energy plant also significantly contributes to reducing carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions in the atmosphere. The clean energy production of the plant is equivalent to the action of 45,250 trees absorbing CO2, an important benefit for the environment.

Technology and Quality: International Standards in Solar Energy
The plant employs modern technology and international quality standards. A total of 4,589 photovoltaic modules of 655 watts, imported from China, were used and installed in a lightweight and robust metal structure, reducing material costs and ensuring safety.
The Future of Energy: Focus on Expansion and Innovation
With an installed capacity of 23.9 gigawatts (GW), solar photovoltaic energy is currently the second-largest energy matrix in Brazil, second only to hydropower. The Sorocaba plant is an important step towards expansion and innovation in the solar energy sector.
Sustainable Planning: A Solar Parking Lot
One of the unique aspects of the Sorocaba plant is that it was built in a solar carport format. This means that the solar panels were installed on a metal structure, forming a solar parking lot with 789 covered spaces.
Futuristic Vision: Preparing for Electric Vehicles
In addition to providing clean energy, the Sorocaba plant was also designed to accommodate the future of transportation. 37 spaces in the solar parking lot are equipped for electric vehicles, a significant advancement in electric vehicle charging infrastructure in Brazil.
