New INSS Action Takes Experts and Social Workers to Remote Cities to Anticipate Examinations, Reduce Travel and Speed Up the Granting of Benefits Such as BPC and Disability Assistance.

The INSS launched a mobile service initiative to anticipate examinations and social assessments and thus reduce response time for benefits such as BPC and Temporary Disability Benefit.

The initiative, named “From Oiapoque to Chuí”, concentrated teams in Oiapoque (AP) on October 8 and conducted more than 80 services in a single day.

The next stage will take place in Chuí (RS) on October 15 and 16, focusing on avoiding long travels for beneficiaries to other cities.

How The New Service Model Works

The action brings medical experts, social workers, and officials to remote locations, where demand is high, and local infrastructure is limited.

By consolidating schedules into a few days in the beneficiary’s municipality, the INSS can expedite essential steps of the process and reduce the administrative queue, as the citizen meets all requirements without crossing the state in search of an appointment.

According to the agency, the design provides a faster response for those awaiting a medical examination or social evaluation, which are critical steps for advancing from “under review” status to granting or maintaining the benefit.

Why Anticipation Reduces Timeframes for BPC and Assistance

To grant or renew the BPC and the Temporary Disability Benefit, the process requires a medical examination and, when applicable, social evaluation.

When these steps occur in the beneficiary’s city, the pending issues are resolved all at once, without interruptions between appointments and without additional travel.

In practice, the local procedure shortens the overall time until the decision, both by conducting the evaluations immediately and by enabling document corrections on the spot during the in-person service.

It is this sequence of actions, conducted at the same address and on the same day, that drives the process out of inertia and advances the granting when requirements are met.

What Was Done in Oiapoque

On October 8, the Social Security Agency of Oiapoque received teams for a drive that totaled more than 80 services.

In addition to the anticipated medical examinations and social evaluations, the post offered administrative services such as benefit requests, statement inquiries, and registration updates, allowing beneficiaries to complete the process without leaving the municipality.

The goal was to avoid travel to Macapá, the capital about seven hours away by road, and reduce the wait time for those who already had appointments scheduled for later dates.

Next Stage: Services in Chuí on October 15 and 16

The route moves to the extreme south of the country.

In Chuí (RS), the operation is scheduled for October 15 and 16, with administrative services at the Cultural Center Chuí (Avenida Uruguay, 1,538).

The action, conducted in partnership with the local city hall, replicates the model from Oiapoque: prioritizing previdential services, on-site guidance, and support for requests and consultations, while evaluations that depend on prior scheduling are organized according to available capacity.

The planning by the INSS estimates to serve around 200 people throughout the planned drives in October at both extremes of the territory.

How The Citizen Participates and Makes An Appointment

The administrative services can be accessed spontaneously at the places and times announced for each stage.

However, medical examinations and social evaluations require prior scheduling through official channels: Central 135 or the Meu INSS app/website.

This filter ensures organized flow and avoids unnecessary queues, as well as allowing the team to determine the volume of services per day.

In Oiapoque, for example, the selection of scheduled cases helped to advance procedures that were marked for future dates, reducing the wait time previously indicated to the beneficiary.

What Changes For Those Who Live Far From Large Centers

For residents of border areas and isolated regions, dependence on large cities to meet INSS requirements results in travel costs, loss of income, and exposure to long, often unfeasible travels for those with health limitations.

The new format reverses the logic: the service goes to the beneficiary, not the other way around.

This way, the agency reduces access barriers and improves the attendance rate for evaluations, which has a direct impact on analysis timelines and regular maintenance of benefits.

At the same time, the standardization of service and the provision of multiple services in the same space expedite document corrections that previously required returns to the agency.

The Role of Medical and Social Teams

Experts and social workers work in a coordinated manner.

While the expert verifies link and disability for previdential purposes, the social worker assesses socioeconomic conditions in cases such as the BPC, an assistance benefit linked to family income and legal requirements.

The joint execution, within the same timeframe, prevents gaps between appointments that traditionally prolong processes.

When the documentation is complete and the report is finalized, the process instruction continues without interruption, reducing the need for rescheduling and travel to other cities.

Expansion and Communication of Next Actions

The INSS informs that the schedule for the “From Oiapoque to Chuí” initiative is announced through official channels and on the gov.br/inss portal, with dates and addresses of service points.

The guidance is to follow the publications to know when the team will be in your region and, if necessary, schedule the examination or social evaluation through the digital channels or Central 135.

So far, the agency reports that drives in October prioritize the two extremes of the country, while other locations may receive the same model according to demand distribution and operational capacity.
