Invenergy Acquires 600 MW Wind Farm Portfolio from ContourGlobal and Eletrobras. Operation and Maintenance Services Ensure Sustainable Energy in the Northeast.

Invenergy announced the acquisition of a 600 MW wind farm portfolio from ContourGlobal and Eletrobras. This strategic move strengthens Invenergy’s position in the renewable energy sector in Brazil, ensuring a significant contribution to sustainable energy generation in the Northeast region. The operation and maintenance of these farms will be essential to ensure efficiency and sustainability of the acquired projects.

Invenergy, together with Patria Investimentos, continues to expand its activities in Brazil, reflecting its commitment to sustainable growth. As a private American company, Invenergy has demonstrated remarkable capability in managing and operating large-scale projects. The acquired portfolio reinforces Invenergy’s expertise in developing innovative energy solutions, increasing its managed wind asset capacity in the country to over 1 GW.

Acquisition of Wind Farms by Invenergy in Brazil

The purchase of wind farms with an installed capacity of about 600 megawatts (MW) from ContourGlobal and Eletrobras in Brazil marks a significant move for Invenergy. This private American company will hold 10% of the capital of the portfolio, while the remaining 90% will remain under the ownership of Patria Investimentos. Invenergy, one of the leading developers in the sector, will also take responsibility for the operation and maintenance (O&M) services of the wind turbines in the acquired farms.

Steve Dowdy, Executive Vice President of Invenergy, stated: ‘The transaction, unprecedented for Invenergy Services in Brazil, expands our global O&M portfolio, while also making us owners of wind assets in the country for the first time.’ He also added: ‘The mindset of ‘owners’ guides our work at Invenergy Services, and this opportunity reinforces our commitment to delivering excellent services across all projects we manage.’

Expansion of Invenergy’s Presence in Brazil

The wind energy portfolio encompasses four projects located in the Piauí and Rio Grande do Norte regions in Northeast Brazil: Asa Branca, Chapada I, Chapada II, and Chapada III. All the energy generated by these projects is sold to various distribution companies through long-term contracts resulting from renewable energy auctions. With the vast majority of installed wind capacity in Brazil located in the Northeast, this strategic partnership gives Invenergy a robust presence in this area of the country.

Rodolpho Scheeffer, Vice President and Country Manager of Invenergy in Brazil, commented: ‘The transaction represents Invenergy’s commitment to the Brazilian market, and we are excited to see our team apply our unique expertise to this wind farm portfolio in the Northeast and beyond.’ Invenergy has two regional offices in Brazil, in Natal and São Paulo, which further strengthens its national presence.

Impacts and Growth of Invenergy in Brazil

The transaction will more than double Invenergy’s workforce in Brazil, reaching approximately 130 employees. The private American company is committed to accelerating the transition to cleaner, more reliable, and affordable energy. Invenergy and its affiliates develop, build, operate, and own renewable energy generation, transmission, and storage facilities, as well as other forms of clean energy on a large scale, covering the Americas, Europe, and Asia. Headquartered in Chicago, Invenergy has regional development offices in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Spain, Japan, Poland, and Scotland.

Invenergy and its affiliates have successfully developed over 31,000 megawatts in projects that are in operation, under construction, or contracted. This includes wind, solar, transmission infrastructure, natural gas generation, and advanced energy storage projects.
