Learn A Little More About the Railway That Will Connect Rio de Janeiro to Espírito Santo and Transport Oil and Iron Between States
Macaé, The Oil Capital, Will Stand Out Even More With The Construction of The F-118 Railway, With Billion-Dollar Investments Planned
The city of Macaé in Rio de Janeiro, home to the Port of Açu, has significant national prominence and is considered the national capital of oil. However, the iron ore and agricultural products produced in this region also benefit the national economy, but still lack adequate and proportional outflow. Nevertheless, this issue has been raised and discussed among the competent authorities of the states of Rio de Janeiro and Espírito Santo.

During the visit, the mayor discussed this and other issues of importance to Macaé, such as the duplication of BR-101 and the expansion of the city’s airport.
However, the mayor has expressed great optimism regarding this project. After all, investments of around R$8.7 billion are expected for the development of the works. Investment in F-118 Railway Highlights Brazil in Logistics for Transporting Goods Such as Iron and Oil and for Passengers
In Europe, railways are a commonly used means of transport for carrying both goods such as iron ore and oil and passengers. After all, this is an economical, versatile, fast, and effective way to move things and people over long distances. However, Brazil still faces low overall quality in its railways, which needs to be improved.
Thus, the investment in the F-118 railway that passes through Macaé will position Brazil at the forefront of logistics and passenger transport, similar to Europe. Governor Claudio Castro also mentioned that the construction of the railway has the support of BNDES (National Bank for Economic and Social Development) and will enable the outflow from the large Port of Açu. According to him, major ports worldwide can only achieve adequate logistics with the help of railways.
Regional Development With the Construction of the F-118 Railway Will Generate Over 6,000 Jobs and Huge Tax Revenue
The construction of the F-118 railway also brings many regional benefits. First of all, it is a project that promises to generate over 6,000 direct and indirect jobs. Thus, the primary benefit is social, aiming at job and income generation at a time of difficult reintegration into the global scenario.
Secondly, transportation through this means will ensure tax revenue of around R$457 million for the Union. In other words, it will mean more money for national investment, and the country can only gain from this new infrastructure.
