ANP Granted Authorization for Experimental Use of Pure Biodiesel. Amaggi Must Meet Environmental Requirements for Using Biofuel in Its Truck Fleet.

Amaggi announced last Wednesday, (05/03), that it received authorization from the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP) to use pure biodiesel in its truck fleet. The experimental use of the biofuel will take place in 300 vehicles, following all criteria requested by the agency. According to the company, the tests have already begun, and the increase in the use of the product will occur gradually, without risks to operations.

ANP Releases Experimental Use of Pure Biodiesel by Amaggi, Which Invests in Implementing Biofuel in Its Truck Fleet

ANP authorized Amaggi to conduct tests with pure biodiesel in its captive fleet, one of the most anticipated projects by the company for this year.

The grain company will be able to use 100% biodiesel (B100) in up to 300 trucks, as long as it meets the current specifications of the biofuel.

Amaggi emphasized that the tests will begin with a small portion of the fleet, and the increase will occur gradually, up to the limit authorized by ANP.

The implementation project for the new biofuel foresees a total consumption per truck of up to 5,000 liters of biodiesel per month, over two years, limited to 36 million liters during the period.

The gradual increase in volume will be a strategy of the company to mitigate possible operational issues during the testing phase.

This ANP authorization coincides with the installation of a biodiesel plant in Lucas do Rio Verde (MT), where the company will be able to produce up to 1 million liters of biofuel per day.

Since 2019, the company has been developing this initiative, associated with an existing soybean crushing plant on site.

Environmental Commitment Is the Main Pillar of Amaggi’s Project to Implement Biofuel in Its Truck Fleet

Amaggi’s environmental commitment to using pure biodiesel in its captive fleet reflects a conscious and responsible stance regarding environmental preservation.

By replacing part of the fossil diesel with biodiesel, the company reduces greenhouse gas emissions and lessens the environmental impact caused by cargo transportation.

Additionally, the grain company shows concern for the safety and quality of the vehicles and fuel used.

Another fundamental requirement for using pure biodiesel in vehicles is ensuring the integrity of the engines.

In this sense, Scania, the manufacturer of Amaggi’s truck fleet, made adjustments to the vehicle software and maintenance intervals to allow operation with 100% pure biodiesel.

Furthermore, the manufacturer developed its own conversion system, which ensures the integrity of the engine and the durability of the vehicles.

Thus, engines enabled to operate with B diesel can be converted for the use of B100, ensuring the safety and efficiency of Amaggi’s captive fleet operations.

Scania, in this way, demonstrates its commitment to sustainability and the economic viability of its transportation solutions.

The sharing of information with ANP and Ibama also highlights Amaggi’s commitment to transparency and responsibility in conducting the tests.

The company commits to meet all regulatory requirements and standards, contributing to the construction of a more sustainable and conscious cargo transportation sector.

Now, Amaggi continues in its testing phase for the use of pure biodiesel in its fleet following ANP’s approval.
