In União dos Palmares, the Santo Antônio Elderly Home received a financial investment of R$ 50 thousand to expand its photovoltaic system. The funding was officially released by the State Government through the State Secretariat for Social Assistance and Development (SEADES) and aims primarily to reduce electricity expenses.

The initiative seeks primarily to ensure greater financial stability for the institution, which provides continuous care for elderly individuals in vulnerable situations. By decreasing fixed costs related to electricity, the organization will be able to redirect resources to structural improvements and daily care for residents.

Partnership Formalizes Investment in Clean Energy and Efficient Management

The transfer was formalized through a partnership agreement signed by the SEADES Secretary, Kátia Born, and the president of the Santo Antônio Elderly Home, José Belarmino de Menezes. The document establishes that the funds will be applied exclusively to the expansion of the photovoltaic solar energy system, reinforcing the commitment to sustainable practices and good management of public resources.

Savings on the Electricity Bill Will Be Redirected to Direct Benefits for the Elderly

According to the work plan presented, the savings generated by the increased use of solar energy will be fully allocated to the maintenance of the Elderly Home. This includes improvements in food, infrastructure, equipment acquisition, and support for care and assistance activities.

Additionally, the project contributes to the financial predictability of the institution. With lower and more stable energy costs, management will be able to plan medium-term investments, ensuring better quality care for the elderly residents.

Parliamentary Amendment Enables Expansion of the Photovoltaic System

The R$ 50 thousand allocated to the project comes from a mandatory parliamentary amendment authored by state deputy Remi Calheiros. This type of funding allows specific demands from municipalities and social institutions to be addressed directly, strengthening local public policies.

The use of the amendment for the expansion of solar energy reinforces a growing trend to direct investments towards sustainable solutions, combining public resource savings with environmental benefits.

Project Execution Timeline and Monitoring

The contract signed between the Elderly Home and SEADES is valid for 180 days. Within this period, the institution must complete the expansion of the photovoltaic system and present the results obtained, according to the accountability rules established by the State.

By investing in solar energy, the Santo Antônio Elderly Home aligns itself with a more efficient and sustainable management model while strengthening its social mission in União dos Palmares.
