Ipiranga Agro Calls for Many Job Openings for Elementary, Secondary, and Higher Education for the New Harvest of the Sugar and Ethanol Plant in Minas Gerais
The arrival of the fourth unit of Ipiranga Agroindustrial in Passos, a city located in the Southwestern region of Minas Gerais, brings relief to those seeking work in the area. Ipiranga Agro has leased from Itaiquara Alimentos, the owner of the Passos Sugar Mill – sugar and ethanol industries, and is hiring for the 2021 harvest, which begins in August. Grupo Itaiquara Indústria de Alimentos S/A, the owner of the plant, continues with the yeast factory, which has been installed for years within the same industrial park.
The HR supervisor of the group Ipiranga Agro, Alessandra Cristina Freitas, reported that the current workforce consists of 633 employees, including 220 rural workers. After the harvest, the forecast is to hire an additional 150 workers for the sugarcane planting, which begins in October.

“For this harvest, we anticipate opening more than 164 new job openings in agricultural areas, automotive workshops, and industry,” she revealed.
Sugarcane Production
For the harvest, which begins on August 2 and is expected to end by the end of September, the company will harvest the sugarcane left by Itaiquara.
“For this reason, we estimate a milling of approximately 280,000 tons and a yield of 32,000 tons of raw sugar. In 2022, we will harvest part of the planting conducted after the lease, and consequently, the amount of tons to be milled and sugar production will be significantly higher,” emphasized the supervisor.
With the arrival of Ipiranga, the mill is undergoing an industrial renovation for the current harvest, and at this stage, 78% of the planned maintenance for this harvest has already been completed. Until the sugarcane harvest, a fleet of 20 machines specialized exclusively for cutting and 36 for loading will be available. The transport between the fields and the mill will be carried out by 20 sugarcane trucks.
