JAC Hunter Electric Launched in Malaysia Before Brazil. New Electric Pickup Expected to Arrive Here by 2025. Learn All About JAC’s New Pickup

The T9 EV — also known as JAC Hunter Electric in some markets — was officially launched in Malaysia, being fully imported from China. There, the electric pickup enters the market with a suggested price of RM 199,888, equivalent to about R$ 210,000 in direct conversion, not considering taxes, import fees, or insurance.

The model stands out for combining robustness with 100% electric motorization, geared towards both urban use and light commercial activities. In Malaysia, the T9 EV comes equipped with a high-capacity battery, 4×4 traction, and driver assistance technologies, positioning it as one of the most affordable electric pickups in its class.

JAC Hunter Electric Delivers Over 300 Hp

Considering that the diesel version of the model starts at R$ 249,900, the electric version is expected to retail for over R$ 300,000 in the national market. The electric pickup is not here to play with competitors, arriving equipped with two electric motors, one with 95 hp on the front axle and 218 hp on the rear. All this power combines to generate a torque of 52.6 kgfm, ensuring it goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.4 seconds.

Its top speed is 140 km/h. The 88 kWh LFP battery of JAC’s new pickup provides a range of 340 km in the WLTP cycle, and recharging is not a problem, as with 88 kW DC it charges from 15% to 80% in 45 minutes, and 11 kW AC is sufficient to charge from 15% to 100% in just 8.5 hours.

In addition to a more robust stance, the JAC Hunter Electric is large, delivering dimensions such as:

  • Length: 5,330 mm;
  • Height: 1,920 mm;
  • Width: 1,965 mm (the widest in its category);
  • Wheelbase: 3,110 mm.

The cargo bed does not disappoint, offering 1.14 m³ of volume. And even being electric, it tackles trails and obstacles with ease, with approach angles of 27° and departure of 23°.

Interior of JAC’s Electric Pickup Impresses

Visually, the versions stand out with the grille emblem (blue on the EV and red on the diesel) and the subtle EV badge on the rear. The JAC Hunter Electric also loses some standard equipment, but nothing that undermines its competitiveness.

The interior of the model is functional and well-equipped, featuring a 7-inch digital dashboard and a central 10.4-inch screen, with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless phone charger, cooled center console, ambient lighting with 64 colors, leather seats, and an adjustable steering wheel. Additionally, it has a 220V (150W) outlet to power electronics during adventures.

Even without advanced ADAS features, the electric pickup delivers excellent safety equipment with seven airbags (including one central frontal), standard cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and disc brakes on all four wheels.

The pickup is available in red, dark gray, black, silver, and white, always with a black interior. The warranty is for 5 years with limited mileage for the vehicle and 6 years or 200,000 km for the battery.

New JAC Pickup May Be Launched This Semester

According to data from Auto Esporte, the JAC Hunter will be launched in Brazil in the first semester of 2025. While the diesel configuration is offered to the agribusiness sector in rural Brazil, the Hunter EV will focus on direct sales to government fleets, police, and service providers, with an emphasis on urban centers.

Sergio Habib, president of JAC in Brazil, stated that the model will be launched with the same mechanical specifications as in China, with numbers nearly similar to the BYD Shark and the Ford Ranger Raptor.
