Manager of the Campos Basin Business Unit Reinforces the Importance of Petrobras’ Investments in Oil and Gas Projects in the Region
In a meeting with Mayor Welberth Rezende, the General Manager of the Campos Basin Business Unit (UN-BC), Wlisses Menezes, emphasized the importance of the state-owned company’s investments in the local oil and gas market.
The projects to expand production capacity in the area could leverage the high potential of North Fluminense.
With the support of Jean Paul Prates, the expectation is that by 2028, oil production capacity will jump from 600 thousand barrels per day to 900 thousand barrels per day.
“We are currently experiencing a new phase of revitalization in the Campos Basin, with the installation of five new operational units over five years, generating investments of US$ 18 billion with the outlook of increasing production capacity in this region by up to 50%. Research and innovation are essential to this new phase,” Wlisses reinforced.
The mayor of the city of Macaé reiterated Petrobras’ investments as essential for leveraging the city’s high potential for oil and gas production.
Macaé has become one of the largest hubs of the national oil market in recent years, strongly boosting projects in the Campos Basin.
“Petrobras represents our main economic vocation, responsible for making Macaé the leading base of the national energy market. These investments highlight our role in an expanding market that generates jobs and begins to change, once again, our reality,” stated the executive.
Now, the expectation is that Jean Paul Prates will fulfill the commitment of Petrobras’ Business Plan and continue with investments in oil and gas production in the Campos Basin.
