A Resident of Mato Grosso do Sul Managed to Circumvent Brazilian Infrastructure and Transformed a 2009 Fiat Palio into an SUV Without Changing Any Parts of Its Propulsion System
One of the reasons SUVs are so popular in Brazil is the condition of our roads. Their height off the ground and greater comfort reduce the impact of driving over bumpy, pothole-filled roads. However, not everyone wants a vehicle of this category or has the financial means to own one. Therefore, Gabriel Araújo, from Três Lagoas (Mato Grosso do Sul), transformed a 2009 Fiat Palio into an SUV without modifying any parts of its mechanical assembly.
2009 Fiat Palio Has 81 Horsepower

Gabriel Araújo, a resident of Três Lagoas in Mato Grosso do Sul, decided to lift his 2009 Fiat Palio, a hatchback that has even earned the nickname “Gringo” and has an Instagram page with videos viewed by around 60,000 people.
The main modification is in the suspension of the new SUV, raised by 7 centimeters, which allowed for significant ground clearance between the vehicle and the soil. There are also all-terrain tires, though they retain the original measurements of the 2009 Fiat Palio. The change makes a lot of sense, considering that Gabriel often drives on dirt roads.

The mechanical assembly of the new SUV remains unchanged; thus, under the hood, the vehicle still has a 1.4 Fire flex engine generating 81 horsepower and 12.4 kgfm of torque with a five-speed manual transmission. Visually, the 2009 Fiat Palio has gained LEDs in place of the fog lights and also in the reverse lights.
An additional LED light bar has also been installed on the front of the SUV. With that, there’s one certainty: the maintenance costs of this vehicle are much lower than those of a current compact SUV, and it is very easy to find a mechanic familiar with this type of engine.
Other Modifications Appear Around the World
Leaving Mato Grosso do Sul, a Dutchman transformed his Rolls Royce V12 Phantom into a Jeep with six wheels.
To accommodate these extra wheels, the rear of the vehicle had to be extended, and to achieve a more aggressive look, bars were installed on the front and rear of the vehicle, which also features a tow hitch.
Its giant fenders also attract attention, as do its headlights, roof lights, and yellow fog lights. Currently, this type of lighting is outdated and even prohibited in some countries.
Corsa X Ferrari: Who Wins?
An English janitor and mechanic, Adam Beard, bought a Corsa in England about 10 years ago for £1,300 at the time. Currently, the vehicle can beat a Ferrari, using two engines that can generate more than 1,000 horsepower.
To give you an idea of this invention, the sporty Ferrari 488 Pista, in addition to all the brand’s glamour, offers 710 horsepower with a 3.8 V8 twin-turbo engine, with seven gears and dual-clutch.
The model goes from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.85 seconds. A regular Corsa only provides 105 horsepower with a torque of 13.36 kgfm and reaches a maximum speed of just 180 km/h. When push comes to shove, the race between the two vehicles was tight, and despite having a significant head start, the janitor’s Corsa was caught up by the Ferrari, which completed the 400 m in just 11 seconds, compared to the 11.9 seconds of the vehicle with two engines.
