It is important to highlight that the automaker’s strategy has been rewarded, as more than 6 thousand reservations have been made since August, surpassing the initial sales target of 4 thousand units by the end of this year.
This makes it clear that, alongside the attractive price, consumers value the adaptability of this innovative automobile. The Ray EV is a front-wheel-drive electric car that features a 50 kW electric motor and a high-capacity lithium-ion polymer battery of 15.4 kWh, designed for a 10-year lifespan and cleverly housed under the rear seat and cabin floor.
Kia Ray EV Delivers Up To 233 Km Of Range
The electric car’s motor is powered by a 35.2 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, which is sufficient for the motor to deliver up to 86 horsepower and 167 Nm of torque. Additionally, the vehicle takes only 40 minutes to charge from 10% to 80% of battery capacity. As for range, Kia’s electric car does not disappoint. Under normal conditions, it delivers a range of 205 km; however, in urban conditions, it can reach up to 233 km.
These robust numbers, combined with its compact shape, energy efficiency, and versatility, make the Kia Ray EV a promising vehicle in the growing wave of affordable electric vehicles.
The Kia Ray EV is available in South Korea at a competitive price. There are no news of a launch in other countries yet. The electric vehicle costs the equivalent of R$ 105 thousand, R$ 15 thousand less than the Chery iCar, currently the cheapest electric car in Brazil (R$ 119,990).
Kia Electric Car Can Reach 130 Km/h
Although the Ray EV weighs 187 kg more than the gasoline model, the generous torque of the electric motor ensures responsive performance. The acceleration of the electric vehicle is quicker than that of gasoline models, going from 0 to 100 km/h in 15.9 seconds, while the top speed is 130 km/h. The charging time is six hours using a 220V domestic outlet and only 25 minutes in fast charge mode.
The Ray EV’s automatic transmission provides the driver with the choice of two modes while in the ‘D’ driving position. The ‘E’ or Eco mode optimizes and delivers the motor’s torque to achieve minimal battery consumption and maximum range. The “B” mode can be selected when driving downhill on highways and mountain roads to maximize braking power.
