Kia Sportage 2024: Surprising Engine and Performance

The Sportage 2024 comes with a 2.5-liter I-4 engine that delivers 187 horsepower and 178 lb-ft of torque. It’s the kind of power you need, whether in the city or on the road. This powerful engine is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Plus, it has standard front-wheel drive (FWD) and the option for all-wheel drive (AWD) for those who enjoy off-road adventures.

Want to know about acceleration? An AWD Sportage X-Pro went from 0 to 60 mph in 9.3 seconds during tests. No joke! And fuel economy? With FWD, the 2024 Sportage achieves 25/33 mpg city/highway. With AWD, it ranges between 23/26-30 mpg. In other words, you can drive a lot without worrying too much about the gas station.

Hybrid Options

Now, check out the hybrid options: the Sportage Hybrid has a turbocharged engine of 1.6 liters I-4 and an electric motor. Together, they provide 227 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. This reduces the acceleration from 0 to 60 mph to 7.2 seconds. And fuel economy? It jumps to about 38-42/38-44 mpg city/highway.

And there’s more: the Sportage Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV) takes everything to another level. With a more powerful engine and a larger battery, the output goes up to 261 hp. Acceleration from 0 to 60 mph drops to 7.1 seconds, and it offers about 34 miles of all-electric range.

Prices and Versions of the New KIA

Let’s talk about pricing? The 2024 Sportage has several versions, starting with the LX from $27,090. And there’s an option for every taste and budget, you know? The top-of-the-line model, the X-Pro Prestige, starts at $37,890. But these prices are just the beginning; the final price may vary a little.

And who is competing for attention with the Sportage? In the United States and Europe, the rivals are the Honda CR-V and the Toyota RAV4. Here in Brazil, the Sportage faces off against the Jeep Compass, Peugeot 3008, and the Hyundai New Tucson. The competition is fierce!
