The launch of the iPhone 17 this Friday (19) generated a familiar yet impressive scenario: long lines, crowded stores, and even reports of chaos in different countries. The start of sales occurred simultaneously in Brazil and 63 other markets, including the United States, China, India, and the United Arab Emirates, confirming Apple’s strength as a global phenomenon.

According to reporter Ana Letícia Loubak from the Editorial Office, the new Apple phone brought significant changes in design, cameras, and battery, which explains the enthusiasm.

Still, the images of pushing and fighting drew attention, especially in India, where the opening of stores resulted in confusion and the need for security intervention.

Global Expectation and Hustle

In China, hundreds of people gathered at the Apple Store in Sanlitun, Beijing, early in the morning. In just the first shift, about 300 customers were served, according to local reports.

In London, consumers spent the night outside the Regent Street store to secure the first units.

This kind of movement shows the cultural weight the brand holds in different countries, even in the face of increasingly high prices.

In the United Arab Emirates, the scene was of a controlled crowd. At the Dubai Mall, thousands gathered, but only those who had made a pre-order with in-store pickup could enter.

The restriction aimed to avoid larger disruptions, as the local Apple Store is one of the most iconic in the world.

Chaos in India Exposes Dispute for Devices

India, one of Apple’s fastest-growing markets, was the scene of the most tense episode. In Mumbai, videos show consumers pushing and fighting to get in, which required additional security.

Ana Letícia Loubak highlights that such scenes reflect the impact of the iPhone’s arrival in emerging countries, where access to Apple products is seen as a status symbol and social differentiation.

In other Indian cities, such as Bengaluru and Pune, the opening of stores also attracted thousands, with lines forming hours before the inauguration.

Prices and Conditions in Brazil

In Brazil, the launch of the iPhone 17 started with prices starting at R$ 7,999 for the basic 256 GB model, reaching R$ 18,499 for the iPhone 17 Pro Max with 2 TB. The complete line also includes the iPhone 17 Pro and the ultra-slim iPhone Air, which replaces the Plus version.

Apple offers financing options of up to 12 interest-free installments on the official site, as well as discounts for upfront payment.

Retailers like Amazon, Mercado Livre, and Casas Bahia also announced promotions on Pix, bank slip, and cashback. Banks and carriers joined the competition: Itaú maintains the iPhone Forever program, and companies like Claro and TIM offer discounts of up to 25% on postpaid plans.

Even the basic version, the iPhone 17, gained a 6.3-inch display with 120 Hz, 3,000 nits brightness, and improved cameras, including a 48 MP ultrawide lens and an 18 MP front camera. The battery promises up to 30 hours of video playback and 50% fast charging in 20 minutes.

In the Pro models, the highlight is the 48 MP periscope telephoto camera with 8x optical zoom, alongside the new A19 Pro chip built on a 3-nanometer process, optimized for Artificial Intelligence.

The iPhone Air stands out for its ultra-slim titanium design, measuring just 5.6 mm thick, emerging as a lightweight and elegant alternative.
