The Auction of the First Oil Produced in the Atap Field, in the Santos Basin, Will Raise 210 Million Reais for the State Treasury, Highest Price for Union Oil.
This amount corresponds to the load of 500,000 barrels to be delivered in the second quarter of this year, as stipulated in the production sharing contract for the field located in the pre-salt. Galp Energia Brasil won the auction to extract oil from the region at the highest price of the round.
The funds raised for the first load produced in Atapu at the highest price for Union oil were confirmed last Tuesday (17) in an auction initiated by the Ministry of Mines and Energy through Pré-Sal Petróleo SA (PPSA). Ten companies were invited to participate in the event. Four of them qualified and were able to present bids.

Learn About Atap, in the Santos Basin
With the discovery of pre-salt oil reserves in the Santos Basin, oil companies like Petrobras have intensified their activities in the region. This means installing several offshore platforms along the coast. However, to operate them, these companies need land areas to load and unload parts, waste, water, and oil coming from or extracted from these maritime terminals. These activities end up taking place in the port of Santos, thus expanding their service portfolio, becoming a support point for the platform.
The port also has another facility catering to the oil and gas chain. This is the Saipem dock, located at the entrance of the Guarujá Naval Industrial Park canal, which mainly focuses on platform duct assembly. However, Petrobras intends to have a fixed area in the port – occasionally renting two berths from the terminals in the region. They will establish offshore bases locally, reducing the burden of such operations in other maritime complexes. This future unit will operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
