The auction of the first oil produced in the Atap field, in the Santos basin, will raise 210 million reais for the state treasury, the highest price for oil in the Union.

This value corresponds to a load of 500 barrels to be delivered in the second two months of this year, as stipulated in the production sharing contract for the field located in the pre-salt layer. Galp Energia Brasil won the auction to extract oil from the region at the highest price in the league.

The funds raised for the first load produced in Atapu at the highest price for oil in the Union were confirmed last Tuesday (17) in an auction initiated by the Ministry of Mines and Energy through Pré-Sal Petróleo SA (PPSA). Ten companies were invited to participate in the event. Four of them qualified and were able to submit bids.

Appeal for the highest price for Union oil

In a note, the Minister of Mines and Energy, Alexandre Silveira, informed that he will discuss alternatives with Lula, to better allocate the resources produced by the pre-salt production sharing regime.

“These large-scale resources are of strategic importance to Brazil. We need to better share these riches for present and future generations, creating opportunities and improving the quality of life of Brazilian men and women”, said the minister. Under the product sharing system, the second round of bidding for the transfer of pre-salt rights resulted in a signing bonus of 11,14 billion reais.

Discover Atap, in the Santos Basin

With the discovery of pre-salt oil reserves in the Santos Basin, oil companies such as Petrobras intensified their operations in the region. This means installing several offshore platforms on the coast (away from the coast). However, to operate them, these companies need areas on land to load and unload parts, waste, water and oil from or removed from these maritime terminals. These activities end up taking place in the port of Santos, thus expanding its portfolio of services, becoming a support point for the platform.

The port also has another facility that serves the oil and gas chain. This is the wharf Saipem, located at the entrance to the Guarujá Naval Industrial Park channel, whose main activity is the assembly of platform pipelines. But Petrobras intends to have a fixed area in the port – occasionally renting two terminal berths in the region. They will establish offshore bases locally, reducing the burden of such operations on other maritime complexes. This future unit will operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
