The Partnership Between Opel And Lotus Resulted In The Lotus Omega, A Sedan That Challenged Mercedes And BMW, Equipping The Omega With A Twin-Turbo Engine Of 377 Horsepower, Becoming The Fastest Production Sedan In Europe In The 90s.

In Search Of A Car That Could Compete With The Big Brands, Opel, Together With Lotus, Transformed The Omega Into A High-Performance Sedan. The Result Was The Lotus Omega, Also Known As Lotus Carlton In England, A Vehicle That Became The Fastest Production Sedan In The World In Europe.

Launched In 1990, The Lotus Omega Had Limited Production Until 1992, With Only 950 Units. Of These, 630 Were Sold As Opel And 320 As Vauxhall Carlton. The Main Difference Between The Models Was The Position Of The Steering Wheel.

The Original Omega Already Had A Modern And Aerodynamic Design, But Lotus Took It To Another Level

The Sedan Received A 3.6L Engine With Two Garret T25 Turbos, Generating An Impressive 377 Horsepower And 56.8 Kgfm Of Torque. This Engine Allowed The Lotus Omega To Accelerate From 0 To 100 Km/h In Just 5.4 Seconds, Reaching A Top Speed Of 283 Km/h, Electronically Limited.

To Support This Power, The Car Received The Six-Speed Manual Transmission From The Corvette ZR1 And More Efficient Brakes With An ABS System. Furthermore, The Suspension Was Recalibrated To Offer Greater Precision And Stability At High Speeds.

Lotus Omega Also Stood Out For Its sporty Appearance

The Lotus Omega Also Stood Out For Its Sporty Appearance, With A Rear Spoiler, Side Skirts, And Low-Profile Wheels. Internally, It Combined Luxury And Sportiness With Wood Finishes, A Sport Steering Wheel, And Recaro Seats.

Despite Its Success, Production Was Short, Making The Lotus Omega A True Icon Among Automotive Enthusiasts. This Twin-Turbo Sedan Not Only Elevated The Image Of Opel And Lotus But Also Left A Mark In The History Of High-Performance Cars.

Quando a Lótus passou pelas mãos da GM fez pelo menos 2 carros fenomenal um foi o Lótus Carlton ( o mesmo Omega 3.0 com litragem elevada a 0,6L e duas turbinas cambio de Corvette zr1 e de estética para-choque dianteiro e arco no paralama traseiro com um spoiler bem sutil na traseira o outro uma GMC Syclone e typhon seria a Sonoma e Jimmy a S10 e Blazer de primeira geração no Brasil é a de segunda geração com o mesmo 4.3v6 vortec com duas turbinas e tração integral permanente sendo a foi feito o sedã mais rápido e a pick up mais rápida
