In the early hours of Tuesday, December 9, 2025, the Statue of Liberty of Havan in Natal, Rio Grande do Norte, was targeted in an arson attempt that mobilized security teams and police forces. A man broke into the parking lot of the megastore around 4:50 AM and set fire to the door located at the base of the monument, using rags and flammable material.
The flames were concentrated in a specific area of the structure and extinguished themselves without spreading throughout the statue. Even so, the attack raised an alarm at Havan and led businessman Luciano Hang to offer a cash reward to help identify the criminal, who remains at large.

According to the images recorded by the internal circuit, the man walks through the Havan parking lot in Natal, approaches the base of the Statue of Liberty, and starts the fire at the door of the monument.

Even with the spontaneous extinguishing of the flames, the episode was treated as serious by authorities and the retail chain itself.
The manager of the branch in Natal was contacted immediately after the start of the fire, as were the Military Police and the Fire Department, who went to the store to assess the situation and ensure safety in the area.
Luciano Hang Talks About Malice and Announces Reward of R$ 10 Thousand
Businessman Luciano Hang, founder of Havan, commented on the attack and classified the incident as an act of malice against the company’s property.
For him, an attack of this nature cannot be normalized or treated as trivial.
“It’s very sad to see this kind of malice. This cannot go unpunished. People cannot accept the wrong as if it were true. We will collaborate with authorities so that the responsible party is identified and held accountable for what they did,” Hang stated.
In addition to the public statement, Luciano Hang announced a reward of R$ 10 thousand for anyone who helps identify the author of the attack on the Statue of Liberty of Havan in Natal.
The intention is to encourage anonymous tips and speed up the police investigation process.
Civil Police Investigates and Requests Help From The Population
The images from the internal circuit of Havan have already been delivered to the Civil Police, which is conducting the investigation to try to identify the criminal.
The videos will be crucial for analyzing the physical characteristics, clothing, and behavior of the suspect, in addition to helping to trace the escape route used after the fire.
