The Objective Of Petrobras Is To Use The Expertise Of Both Companies For Seismic Monitoring In Their Areas Of Operation In The Mero Field. Maersk And Alcatel Have Joined For The Construction And Operation Of The State-Owned Company Project In The Santos Basin.

Petrobras Is Preparing For An Audacious And Important Project Aimed At Its Operations In The Mero Field, Located In The Santos Basin. It Has Signed A Contract With A Consortium Formed By Alcatel Submarine Networks And Maersk For The Construction And Operation Of A Permanent Seismic Monitoring System (SMSP) In The Area. The Objective Is To Ensure Greater Control Over Seismic Activities In The Company’s Areas Of Operation.

Petrobras Signs Agreement For Construction Of Seismic Monitoring System In The Mero Field With New Consortium Formed Between Maersk And Alcatel 

Petrobras Announced Another Important Contract Supporting Its Future Operations In The Santos Basin Region Of Brazil.

The Company Has Entered Into An Agreement With A Consortium Formed By The Companies Maersk And Alcatel For The Construction And Operation Of A Permanent Seismic Monitoring System (SMSP) In The Mero Field.

In An Area Of Approximately 200 km² On The Ocean Floor, The Consortium Companies Will Install More Than 400 Kilometers Of Fiber Optics.

The Start Date For Operations Of The Companies With Petrobras In The Mero Field Is Set For Early 2024. Thus, The State-Owned Company Will Direct Its Investments Toward Accelerating The Project In The Santos Basin.

Construction Project Of The New Seismic Monitoring System With Maersk And Alcatel Marks New Investments By Petrobras In The Mero Field

The System Built By Maersk And Alcatel Will Be Connected To The FPSO Sepetiba, Where Petrobras Will Be Able To Access Seismic Monitoring Data From The Area.

“The Mero SMSP Project Has Unique Features In Brazil And Incorporates The State Of The Art In 4D Seismic Monitoring Technologies, With Which Seismic Records Obtained On Different Dates Are Used To Monitor Reservoir Behavior Over Time,” The State-Owned Company Stated In A New Release.

Currently, The Mero Field, In The Santos Basin, Is Operated Under A Production Sharing Agreement With Petrobras, Which Holds A 38.6% Stake In The Asset.

It Shares The Site With The Companies Shell Brasil Petróleo Ltda (19.3%), TotalEnergies EP Brasil Ltda (19.3%), CNODC Brasil Petróleo E Gás Ltda (9.65%), CNOOC Petroleum Brasil Ltda (9.65%) And Pré-Sal Petróleo S.A (PPSA) (3.5%).

Now, With The New Contract Signed With Alcatel And Maersk, Petrobras Plans To Further Modernize Support Services Linked To Production In The Mero Field.
