PIS/Pasep Payments Have Already Started and Benefit Private Sector Workers and Public Servants Who Were Linked During the Period
More than 10 million Brazilians can still withdraw forgotten amounts from the PIS/Pasep, referring to deposits made between 1971 and 1988. According to UOL, each beneficiary is entitled to receive, on average, R$ 2,800, depending on the length of service and salary of the time.
The federal government emphasizes that even after the extinction of the fund in 2020, the resources remain available for withdrawal. Those who do not make the request risk leaving the money idle in the National Treasury, without immediate use.
Who Is Entitled to Withdraw from PIS/Pasep
According to the Caixa Econômica Federal, all workers who had a signed work card in the private sector or worked as public servants between 1971 and October 4, 1988 can request the amounts from the PIS/Pasep.

In the event of the account holder’s death, the heirs can also request the withdrawal.
To do so, it is necessary to present specific documentation, such as a certificate of dependents eligible for death pension, judicial authorization, or a declaration of sole heirs registered at a notary office.
How Much Is It Possible to Receive from PIS/Pasep
The Ministry of Finance estimates that the average amount to be paid is R$ 2,800 per beneficiary. However, the amount varies according to the deposits made during the period.
Those who worked longer and received higher salaries tend to be entitled to higher amounts.
According to the official calendar, those who requested the withdrawal by August 31, 2025 will receive on September 25.
Requests made by the end of September will be paid on October 27.
Where to Consult and Request the Amounts
Consultation about the existence of a balance in the PIS/Pasep can be done in three ways:
Through the FGTS app, available on the Play Store and App Store;
Through the REPIS Cidadão website (repiscidadao.fazenda.gov.br), the official platform of the Ministry of Finance;
At any Caixa agency, with the presentation of an official identification document.
For heirs, it will also be necessary to prove the succession link with additional documentation.
How the Payment Is Made
The PIS/Pasep amounts are paid exclusively into Caixa Econômica Federal accounts, in two ways:
Credit in an existing account, whether it be checking, savings, or digital;
Credit in a Digital Social Savings Account, opened automatically by Caixa, at no additional cost.
Transactions can be made through the Caixa Tem app, already used for other social benefits.
Origin of PIS/Pasep and Reason for Reimbursement
The quotas of PIS/Pasep were created to allocate part of the collection of the Social Integration Program and the Public Servant Asset Formation Program into individual accounts of workers.
This model remained in effect until October 1988, when the funds were unified.
With the definitive extinction of PIS/Pasep in 2020, the amounts were transferred to FGTS and, more recently, to the National Treasury.
Still, workers and heirs maintain the right to withdraw the amounts deposited during the period.
The withdrawal of PIS/Pasep represents a financial relief for millions of Brazilians, especially at a time of economic pressure.
Ignoring this right could mean losing amounts that rightfully belong to the worker or their family.
