Considering Firjan’s Data, Professionals Seeking Specialization and Technical Qualification Will Be Well Positioned to Take Advantage of New Job Vacancies Offered for the Oil and Gas Sector in Rio de Janeiro.

The oil and gas industry in the state of Rio de Janeiro will continue to drive local and national development in the coming years, with the launch of 23 new Production Units (Unidades Estacionárias de Produção) or production platforms by 2028, as revealed by the 2023 Oil Yearbook in Rio, released by the Federation of Industries of Rio de Janeiro (Firjan) last week. These platforms will be responsible for generating 21,000 direct and indirect job vacancies in the state.

2023 Oil Yearbook in Rio Shows Production Expansion and Job Creation in the Sector

The expectation is that out of these 23 Production Units, 19 will be located in the state of Rio de Janeiro, further consolidating the state’s position as an important hub in the sector.

The other four Production Units will be distributed across São Paulo, Espírito Santo, and Sergipe, at different times until 2027.

The sector’s growth brings with it a significant increase in job creation.

It is estimated that, between 2023 and 2028, approximately 21,000 new jobs will be created, with 6,900 direct jobs on the platforms and 13,800 indirect jobs throughout the production chain.

Various segments work together to ensure the full operation of the Production Units, including maritime support, maintenance and repair, production handling, equipment and parts replenishment, port operations, support bases, and passenger transportation, among other activities.

The salaries offered in the Oil and Gas Extraction sector are attractive, with an admission average of R$ 13,685, according to data from Caged and a survey conducted by Firjan in June of this year.

In light of this perspective, it is essential that interested parties be prepared and qualified to seize the job opportunities that will arise in the coming years.

Job Vacancies in the Oil Sector Cover Various Areas of Activity

Savio Bueno, an oil, gas, and naval specialist at Firjan, emphasizes the importance of technical training to enter the market.

“Now is the time to prepare to seize a job opportunity. It is a market that requires a lot of technical knowledge, and Firjan SENAI has open classes to train those interested in entering or specializing in oil or cross-cutting areas of this industry,” concludes Bueno.

According to Firjan’s job vacancy survey in 2022, the main professional qualifications with the highest availability of opportunities offered by companies in the oil market for higher education were: Mechanical, Chemical, and Electrical Engineering, Administration, Economics, and Accounting.

For technical-level professionals, the standout areas were: Mechanics, Electronics, Mechatronics, Automation, and Electrical.

With the prospects of continuous expansion of the oil and gas industry in Rio de Janeiro, investing in specialization and technical qualification is crucial to ensure a promising future in this sector, which plays a crucial role in the economy of the state and the country.

Therefore, stay alert for job vacancies and seek professional development to take advantage of the growth in this rising market.
