The government of Pernambuco is offering a unique opportunity for those who wish to learn a new language. With over 5,900 spots available, the free language courses offered by the Language Study Centers (NEL) are now accepting registrations. If you have always dreamed of mastering English, Spanish, French, or German, this is your chance to start a learning journey.
Available Slots and Courses
There are 3,800 slots for basic beginner courses in English, French, Spanish, and German and 2,170 spots for ongoing courses available for those already proficient in a foreign language. The opportunities for English and other courses will be filled by priority order and distributed among the offered languages. The English courses and others have a workload of 280 hours, divided into four semesters of 70 hours each, over two years.
To register for the English courses and others, you must be at least 13 years old and present two 3×4 photos, in addition to identification documents (RG and CPF). Minors must include the documentation of their guardian. Students must present a statement from the school/institution they attend, and all candidates need to prove residency.

Enrollment Process for the English Courses and Others
Enrollment for the English courses and others must be done in person at the school’s secretary. Students from state public schools have specific enrollment days, while students from municipal and federal public schools have a different period. The general public has specific dates to enroll, and remaining spots will be available at a later date.
Classes are expected to start on February 19 and 20, giving students the opportunity to embark on a learning journey that can open doors to new personal and professional opportunities.
