The Brazilian Navy has just announced a new public competition with 66 vacancies for the Naval School, the institution responsible for training future officers of the Brazilian naval forces. The selection, which is one of the most traditional in the country, accepts young people with completed or pending high school education and offers military higher education with scholarship, food, uniform, medical assistance, and salary during the course.

Who Can Register for the Brazilian Navy Competition for the Naval School?

According to the announcement published this Tuesday (22), eligible candidates areyoung people of both sexes who meet the following requirements:

  • Have completed or be attending the 3rd year of high school;
  • Be between18 and 22 years old until June 30, 2026;
  • Be a natural-born Brazilian (both sexes);
  • Be single andhave no children or dependents;
  • Havea minimum height of 1.54 m and a maximum height of 2.00 m;
  • Be up to date with military obligations (for male candidates);
  • Be up to date with electoral obligations;
  • Have an impeccable conduct and good background;
  • Not have been discharged from a military institution for disciplinary reasons.

The 66 vacancies of the Naval School are divided as follows:

  • 54 vacancies for male candidates;
  • 12 vacancies for female candidates.

Registrations and Fee for the Brazilian Navy Selection Process

Theregistrations for the Navy competition will be open startingApril 28 and run until May 12, 2025, exclusively through the official website: www.ingressonamarinha.mar.mil.br.

The registration fee isR$ 100, with the possibility of exemption for:

  • Bone marrow donors registered with Redome;
  • Registered in CadÚnico with family income of up to half the minimum wage per person.

Exemption requests must be made betweenApril 28 and May 5, on the same registration site.

Stages of the Brazilian Navy Competition

The selection will consist of several eliminatory and classificatory phases, starting in 2025 and expected to conclude in the first half of 2026. The first phase, objective test and essay, is scheduled for August 24 and 31, 2025.

First Phase: Written Tests

Candidates will take multiple-choice tests covering the following subjects:

  • Mathematics
  • Physics
  • Portuguese
  • English
  • Essay

The test will be administered in22 Brazilian cities, ensuring access for candidates from all regions of the country:

  • São Paulo (SP), Santos (SP)
  • Rio de Janeiro (RJ), Angra dos Reis (RJ), Nova Friburgo (RJ), São Pedro da Aldeia (RJ)
  • Brasília (DF)
  • Porto Alegre (RS), Rio Grande (RS), Santa Maria (RS)
  • Belo Horizonte (MG)
  • Salvador (BA)
  • Fortaleza (CE)
  • Natal (RN)
  • Olinda (PE)
  • São Luís (MA)
  • Belém (PA)
  • Manaus (AM)
  • Campo Grande (MS)
  • Ladário (MS)
  • Vila Velha (ES)
  • Florianópolis (SC)

Next Stages

Those who pass the written tests will undergo other stages betweenNovember 2025 and January 2026:

  • Document Verification
  • Health Inspection
  • Physical Fitness Test (running and swimming)
  • Psychological Evaluation

The final classification will be published after all stages are completed, and the selected candidates will begin the training course in 2026.

How Does the Course Work at the Naval School?

Those approved in the competition enter theNaval School, located on Villegagnon Island, in Guanabara Bay, Rio de Janeiro. There, students go through an academic, military, and physical training that lasts about4 years and is equivalent to a higher education degree.

Throughout the entire period, students receive:

  • Monthly Scholarship
  • Complete Uniform
  • Accommodation and Meals
  • Medical, Dental, Psychological, and Social Assistance
  • Annual School Vacation

At the end of the course, the student graduates asMidshipman, the first rank in the Brazilian Navy military career. Subsequently, they are promoted to Second Lieutenant, with a salary exceeding R$ 9,000.
