The Fiagril Plant in the State of Mato Grosso
Operated by Fiagril, the plant has a capacity of 202 million liters³ per year, produced from vegetable oils such as soy. Given the relevance of the production matrix of this fuel, considered a cleaner and renewable energy source, August 10 has been marked as International Biodiesel Day.
According to Fiagril’s CEO, Henrique Mazzardo, the date is representative to mark global intentions to reduce pollutant emissions. “There are various agreements that highlight the importance of reducing CO2 emissions, and Fiagril is also committed to this purpose, always working alongside rural producers in the regions where it operates, to encourage the market while facilitating the expansion of this energy matrix, which is the future.”

Brazil Has Significant Representation in the Biodiesel Market
Brazil is the second largest biodiesel producer in the world, which is one of the best sustainable alternatives to replace fossil fuels that pollute cities and are responsible for climate change. The sector also contributes to social inclusion, with over 98% of the volume sold coming from plants with a social biofuel seal.
In total, there are 49 productive biodiesel plants in the country. Nationally, production experienced a growth of 8.7% in 2020, according to ANP data. This, in terms of installed capacity, represents 9.4% with consumption of 6.4 billion liters.
