The program aims to train professionals capable of developing research applied to Professional and Technological Education (EPT), articulating academic production and pedagogical practice.
According to the announcement, the completion of the course must occur within 24 months.
To obtain the degree, the student must present a dissertation, develop and defend a educational product linked to the research, and prove the submission of a complete paper or article in an indexed journal, conference proceedings, or chapter of a qualified book.
The production must be done in co-authorship with the advisor and related to the theme investigated in the master’s program.
Distribution of Vacancies and Reservation for Federal Network Employees
The 769 vacancies are distributed among federal institutes, federal centers for technological education, and Colégio Pedro II.
These institutions act as associates and are responsible for the local execution of the program.
The number of vacancies per campus and per research line is detailed in the annexes of the announcement.
The selection process provides for two categories of competition.
One of them is aimed at employees of the Federal Network of Professional, Scientific, and Technological Education, including teaching staff and administrative technicians in service.
For this group, the announcement reserves between 30% and 50% of the vacancies in each associate institution, according to criteria defined locally and the application of affirmative actions provided for in the legislation.
Research Lines Guide Projects and Educational Products
At the time of application, each candidate must choose only one associate institution.
It is also mandatory to opt for one of the two research lines of ProfEPT, which guide the development of the dissertation and the educational product.
Line 1, titled Educational Practices in Professional and Technological Education, encompasses studies on the foundations of pedagogical practices and curricular development in EPT.
Among the topics covered are Education for Young and Adults, Indigenous Education, Rural Education, Ethnic-Racial Relations, Gender Issues, and Education for People with Disabilities.
Line 2, called Organization and Memories of Pedagogical Spaces in Professional and Technological Education, focuses on the analysis of the processes of conception, organization, and transformation of pedagogical spaces in EPT.
This line also includes research on institutional memory and the historical construction of these formative environments.
Who Can Apply and What Experiences Are Accepted
The announcement allows the registration of candidates with a graduate degree or declaration of completion of higher education, whether in teaching, bachelor’s, or technology.
In the general competition, proof of involvement in teaching practices or management of pedagogical spaces linked to EPT is required.
The criteria for workload, period, and documentation are objectively described in the announcement.
The document also stipulates which activities cannot be considered for the purposes of proving experience.
These parameters are used in the analysis of the documentation presented by the candidates.
ProfEPT Online Exam and Scoring System
The selection will be carried out through an online objective exam, scheduled for February 8, 2026.
The exam will consist of 20 multiple-choice questions, with content distributed among conceptual and historical bases of EPT, research methodologies, and theories and practices of teaching and learning.
The reference bibliography is indicated in the announcement.
The scoring system follows previously defined rules.
Each correct answer adds 5 points.
Unanswered questions do not affect the score.
Incorrect answers incur a deduction of 1 point per question, which may lead to a negative final score, according to the calculation formula provided.

The exam will start at 2 PM, Brasília official time, lasting up to two hours.
