What is PROFMAT
This is a professional master’s program, recognized and evaluated by Capes, with a concentration area in “Mathematics in Basic Education”, nationally coordinated by SBM and carried out by Associated Institutions in a network.
The program aims to strengthen the mathematical training of current teachers, bringing advanced content closer to classroom practice.
The funding comes from the ProEB, a policy linked to the MEC for the qualification of public school teachers.
Who Can Participate
Professionals with a degree recognized by MEC, in any area, who work as Mathematics teachers in Basic Education, in public or private networks, with a functional link, may apply.
Proof of these requirements is required upon enrollment.
Places and Distribution Across the Country
For the class of 2026, the notice provides for 1,797 spots distributed throughout the national territory, through Associated Institutions that make up the network.
Although the title mentions “100 universities,” the official communication from SBM indicates offers at 105 institutions in this edition, covering all regions.
The complete listing of centers, cities, class shifts, and contacts is included in the annex of the notice.
Content Covered in ENA
The ENA 2026 will assess foundational knowledge in Algebra, Geometry, Statistics, and Probability, as well as numerical sets and logical reasoning, among other topics.
The exam consists of 30 multiple-choice questions, with the reference bibliography indicated in the notice.
Assessment, Calendar, and Enrollment
After the exam, the answer key must be published by November 3, 2025.
The institutions will disclose scores and rankings according to the planned calendar, with an initial enrollment period exclusive to public school teachers, followed by a joint stage for public and private sectors.
If there are leftover public spots, up to 30% of the total filled may be occupied by private school teachers, respecting the requirements of the notice.
Academic Structure and Course Routine
PROFMAT is free and leads to the title of Master.
The activities are in-person and take place on the days and shifts defined by each Associated Institution, with local disclosure.
The national academic coordination establishes general norms, while the institutional coordinations organize the exam and implementation of the course at their centers.
Training Aligned with the Classroom
According to the program regulations, the pedagogical proposal seeks to deepen the mastery of significant mathematical contents for teaching, with an emphasis on application in the school routine.
The national network allows for standardization of access, while local execution accommodates specificities of offerings, always under the current notice’s rules.
How to Enroll
Applications must be made exclusively online on the page of PROFMAT, by October 8, 2025, at 5 PM, upon payment of the fee of R$ 90. The exam will be held on November 1, from 2 PM to 5 PM (Brasília time).
The candidate needs to select the Associated Institution where they intend to pursue the master’s program and follow the rules of participation, the annexes with spots, and the deadlines for results and enrollment as stated in the Edital nº 21/2025.
