The Ministry of Education (MEC), through the Coordination of Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (Capes), opened applications for the National Access Exam (ENA) of the Professional Master’s Degree Program in Mathematics in National Network (ProfMat).
The program offers 1,600 slots in 82 higher education institutions spread across all regions of Brazil.
This master’s degree is an excellent opportunity for teachers in the public basic education network, the target audience of the initiative.

History and Importance of ProfMat
ProfMat, which started in 2011, has already graduated more than 7,300 people and is the largest master’s program of the Strictly Academic Graduate Program for the Qualification of Basic Education Teachers (ProEB).
In addition to mathematics, ProEB also offers master’s courses in areas such as Arts, Biology, Physical Education, Philosophy, Physics, Geography, Literature, and Chemistry.
In the 2025 edition, ProEB will open 6,775 slots, of which 116 will be allocated to the professional doctorate in History, a new feature that promises to further strengthen teacher qualification.
The ProEB courses are offered in hybrid format, combining face-to-face meetings and online activities, providing flexibility for teachers to balance studies with their work routine.
Applications and Exams for MEC Master’s Degree
Applications for the selection process can be made until September 30 on the official ProfMat portal.
The exam will be held on October 9, from 2 PM to 5 PM, as defined in Public Notice No. 18/2024, which regulates this edition.
