A Mega Investment in the New Great Wall Motors Factory Is Shaking the Automotive Industry and Leaving Competitors Nervous. Discover When the GWM Unit Will Begin Operation and What It Will Bring New to the Market.

Alert for MEGA investment: After a careful reassessment of the product portfolio to be nationalized, Great Wall Motors (GWM) officially announced the start of its production in Brazil. The new factory, located in Iracemápolis, São Paulo, will begin operations in the last quarter of 2024. Although the original schedule projected the start of activities in May of this year, the company chose to adjust its plans to ensure that the products offered in the Brazilian automotive industry are perfectly aligned with the needs and expectations of local consumers.

This massive investment in Iracemápolis represents a significant milestone for GWM, which aims to consolidate its presence in the competitive Brazilian automotive market. The factory will be responsible for producing vehicles with advanced technology and a focus on sustainability, including hybrid and electric models, which are set to revolutionize the segment.

With operations expected to start at the end of 2024, Great Wall Motors positions itself as a strong competitor, bringing innovation and quality to the Brazilian automotive market. Stay tuned for updates and get ready to discover the models that will soon be available at dealerships across the country.

Understand the Reason for the Delay of GWM’s Mega Investment

With the change in strategy, the automotive industry giant had to postpone the schedule by about six months. The delay of Great Wall Motors’ new factory occurred due to the gradual return of the Import Tax for electrified and hybrid vehicles, which began in January of this year, and the announcement of the Mover automotive program, which aims to encourage the local production of vehicles with lower emissions of pollutants.

As previously announced by GWM, the first or the first products to be assembled will be monocoque SUVs from the Haval line, built on the LMN platform and featuring DHT hybrid engines, completely changing the automotive industry.

However, there is still no definition on which model will be, or if there will be more than one simultaneously at Great Wall Motors’ new factory. What is certain is that it will be an SUV from the Haval family. The H6, already sold in Brazil, is one of the candidates, but there are also chances that it will be the H4, an all-new medium SUV.

The New Great Wall Motors (GWM) Factory on Brazilian Soil

With its mega investment, GWM is ahead of competitors in the automotive industry such as BYD and will be the first Chinese automaker to produce vehicles in Brazil. In August 2021, the vehicle company solidified its presence in the Brazilian market after purchasing the former Mercedes-Benz factory in the interior of São Paulo. Shortly thereafter, an investment of R$ 10 billion was announced, including the possibility of producing electric cars on national soil.

In the first phase of the investment, which started last year and continues until 2025, the automaker injected R$ 4 billion to adapt and expand the new Great Wall Motors factory in Iracemápolis (SP). The plan is to expand the factory’s production capacity to up to 100,000 vehicles annually. According to data from the automaker, the plant is also expected to generate around 2,000 jobs when operating at full capacity.

Either way, GWM is racing to ensure that its national products begin production already with flex hybrid engines. Both the H6 and the H4 use a 1.5 turbo four-cylinder engine with 16 valves and direct injection, along with one or two traction electric motors, with outputs ranging between 243 hp and 393 hp.

Meanwhile, the midsize pickup Poer and the seven-seater SUV Tank 500, initially expected to launch operations in the mega investment in Iracemápolis in May, have been postponed to 2025 and will undergo updates before their respective launches.

In addition to the Haval SUVs, the Poer pickup, and the nationalized Tank 500 SUV, GWM will continue to bring imported vehicles to the Brazilian Automotive Industry, such as electric vehicles from the Ora brand, hybrid jeeps from Tank, and hybrid SUVs with a more luxurious touch from another brand sold in China, Wey.

Esta era a fábrica da Mercedes em SP , que começou a montar os carros aqui.
Os investimentos são fictícios ,como os da BYD em Camaçari, na Bahia.
As fábricas estão prontas. Há muita informação não verdadeira.
