Inpasa Expands Ethanol and DDGS Production with Billion-Dollar Investment in New Plants and Modernization of Existing Factories.

The leader in corn ethanol production in Latin America, Inpasa is making a significant investment to expand its operations in Brazil. With an investment of R$ 5 billion, the company plans to construct two new corn ethanol plants and expand its existing units, aiming to strengthen its position in both national and international markets.

New Inpasa Plants Highlighted

Inpasa’s new facilities will be located in Sidrolândia (MS) and Balsas (MA), the latter marking the company’s entry into the state of Maranhão.

Both plants are designed to process up to 2 million tons of corn each. In Sidrolândia, the first phase of the plant is expected to start operations at the end of August, with the second phase scheduled for October.

In Balsas, construction is planned to begin in 2025, further increasing Inpasa’s production capacity.

In addition to the new facilities, Inpasa is expanding its existing units.

The plant in Nova Mutum (MT) recently doubled its processing capacity, reaching 2 million tons of corn per year.

This unit, strategically located along the BR-163 highway, plays a crucial role in the efficient reception and processing of grains during the harvest.

Inpasa’s Contribution to the National and International Market

With these expansions, Inpasa’s total milling capacity is projected to reach 12.2 million tons annually by 2025.

This will result in an estimated production of 5.5 billion liters of ethanol and 2.95 million tons of dried distillers grains with solubles (DDGS), an important co-product used in animal feed.

Currently, Inpasa’s units in Brazil account for 10% of the corn ethanol consumed in the country and export DDGS to 30 countries around the world.

Inpasa stands out as the only DDGS exporter from Brazil, shipping 680 thousand tons in 2023, with expectations of reaching 800 thousand tons this year.

Shipments are carried out through the port of Imbituba in Santa Catarina, facilitating access to markets in Asia, America, and Europe.

Competitive Advantages

Inpasa’s production process is highly efficient and sustainable. Each ton of corn processed at the plant generates 440 liters of ethanol, 240 kilograms of DDGS, and 23 kilograms of oil.

The company uses 310 kilograms of biomass for each ton of corn, reinforcing its commitment to sustainable practices in biofuel production.

The DDGS produced by Inpasa is recognized for its high nutritional quality and superior digestibility.

Free of sulfuric acid and antibiotics, the product is widely used in the feed of swine, poultry, and pets, in addition to being exported to demanding markets such as Europe, where its quality and purity are significant differentiators.

With the planned investments, Inpasa not only reinforces its leadership position in the corn ethanol market but also significantly contributes to the Brazilian economy through job creation and regional development.

The expansion of operations reflects the company’s commitment to innovation, sustainability, and excellence in biofuel production.

Global Expansion

Beyond the national market, Inpasa is focused on expanding its global presence. Currently, exports account for 40% of the company’s total production, with ambitious plans to increase this share in the coming years.

Rodrigo Bicarato, Inpasa’s international trade manager, highlights that Brazil is already the second largest global exporter of DDGS, surpassed only by the United States.

The company aims to reach new markets and increase its international share by leveraging the recognized quality of its products and investing in efficient logistics to ensure timely and competitive delivery.

Inpasa continues investing in research and development to enhance its production processes and products.

Daniel Sarmento, the company’s research and development manager, emphasizes that the technology used in the production of DDGS at Inpasa is a significant differentiator.

By avoiding the use of sulfuric acid and adopting a fast and efficient drying process, the company ensures a final product with high nutrient concentration and excellent digestibility for animals.

This sustainable and innovative approach not only improves the quality of DDGS but also reinforces Inpasa’s commitment to responsible and environmentally conscious practices.

Inpasa’s investments are not limited to expanding its operations.

The company plays a crucial role in the regional economy, generating direct and indirect jobs throughout the entire corn production chain.

In addition, the export of its products contributes to balancing Brazil’s trade balance, strengthening the country’s position as a significant global player in the biofuels sector.

With a long-term vision and a firm commitment to Brazil, Inpasa is positioned to continue leading the corn ethanol and DDGS market, driving economic and social development in the regions where it operates.
