On the Upper West Side of New York, a lemonade stand has become a true sales phenomenon, but the brain behind the business is not an experienced executive, but rather Julian Lin, a boy of just 10 years old. According to a report by the New York Post, the young entrepreneur has already amassed over US$ 10,000 (around R$ 54,000) with a business that started inconspicuously and now even includes a line of proprietary products.
Julian’s story is not a case of luck, but rather the result of a talent for business that has been nurtured from a very young age. With a mindset focused on reinvestment and data-driven strategies, he applied corporate finance principles to turn a simple juice sale into a profitable and inspiring business model.
The Beginning: From Volunteering to His First Business
Julian Lin’s entrepreneurial spirit awakened at age 4, when he began working as a volunteer at a neighborhood fruit stand, helping to organize products and serve customers. The experience taught him the first steps of commerce.

During the pandemic, at age 6, he took a step further and founded his first business, J’s DINR, a homemade “restaurant” that made deliveries to neighbors. The menu consisted of family recipes, such as “Grandma’s Granola” and zucchini cake with chocolate.
The Turning Point with the “Bobanade”
Still in 2020, Julian set up his first lemonade stand. Initially, he used lemons he received from the stand where he volunteered and sold each cup for US$ 1. However, he soon realized that the costs of cups and sugar were practically wiping out his profit.
That’s when he had a brilliant idea. After a school survey revealed that his classmates hardly noticed the difference between his homemade lemonade and a store-bought one, he decided to innovate. Julian began mixing the pre-made lemonade with “popping boba” — small gelatinous spheres filled with juice. Thus, the “Bobanade” was born, a unique product that he began selling for US$ 2.50 a cup. The success was immediate, bringing in US$ 250 in a single day.
Expansion Beyond the Lemonade Stand
With the success of the Bobanade, Julian did not stop. He expanded his portfolio and began selling products with his own brand on an official website, including:

- Hats for US$ 28.
In addition, his entrepreneurial spirit led him to organize the Kids Business Fair, a business fair for children at the famous marketplace The Grand Bazaar NYC, bringing together 15 other young vendors selling everything from artwork to homemade beauty products.
Future Vision: Reinvesting to Grow
With over US$ 10,000 saved, Julian Lin already thinks like a big CEO. Instead of spending the money on toys or saving it for college, he has a clear plan: “Probably [the money] will be used as startup capital for business opportunities in the future”. His story is a powerful example of how creativity and smart management can transform a simple lemonade stand into a major success.
