After many sightings, the new Citroën Basalt 2025 has been fully revealed. As expected, the design of the new cheapest SUV in Brazil has remained the same as the concept presented a few months ago, despite some differences from the Indian car. Unlike the C3 Aircross, the new Citroën SUV comes with a version featuring a 1.0 aspirated engine targeting the compact sedan market.

The Citroën Basalt 2025 will be sold in three versions, one with a manual transmission 1.0 aspirated engine, and the others with a 1.0 turbo engine and CVT, the set known as T200. In dimensions, the cheapest SUV in Brazil offers 4,343 mm in length, or 23 mm longer than the C3 Aircross.

However, the model prioritizes the rear overhang to create harmony with the coupe-like roofline, with a 2,645 mm wheelbase. Thus, the new Citroën SUV has reached 490 liters of trunk space by VDA measurement.

The Citroën Basalt 2025 Feel 1.0 comes with a 1.0 aspirated Firefly engine, an old friend of Stellantis. With three cylinders and 6 valves in a single cam, it delivers 71 hp and 10 kgfm with gasoline and 75 hp and 10.5 kgfm with ethanol. In a car that weighs 1,120 kg, it has a consumption certified by Inmetro of 13 km/litre in the city and 14.6 km/litre on the highway, with gasoline, and 9.3 and 10.2 km/litre, respectively, with ethanol.

How Much Will The Cheapest SUV In Brazil Cost?

For the Basalt Feel Turbo and Shine Turbo, as the name suggests, the 1.0 turbo was chosen. Paired with the CVT transmission simulating 7 gears, it has 125 hp with gasoline and 130 hp with ethanol, with a torque of 20.4 kgfm with both fuels.

The new Citroën SUV has a fuel consumption of 11.9 km/litre in the city and 13.7 km/litre on the highway, with gasoline, and reaches 8.3 and 9.6 km/litre, respectively, with ethanol. It is worth noting that prices for the new cheapest SUV in Brazil start at R$ 89,990 and go up to R$ 107,390.

Despite being developed collaboratively between the Brazilian and Indian teams of the brand, the Citroën Basalt debuts with important differences between the two countries. Visually and structurally the car is the same in both markets, but in content each model followed different specifications to meet specific demands of each market.

What Are The Differences Between The New Citroën SUV In Brazil And India?

On the outside, the cheapest SUV in Brazil is identical to the Indian version and strictly follows the design philosophy of the other models in the C-Cubed project. Highlights include the body with the characteristic sloping design of SUVs with a coupe-like stance, rectangular-shaped taillights with irregular contours on the sides, and a slightly raised trunk lid.

Analyzing versions and equipment, there are significant differences. In India, the Basalt’s catalog starts with the ‘bare bones’ version, which has a very simple and spartan overall appearance. In practice, it lacks features such as wheel covers, multimedia center, painted door handles, and fog lights. It also does not have rear power windows or a three-point seatbelt for the middle passenger.

In Brazil, the range starts with the Feel equipped with painted elements in the body color, a 10-inch multimedia center, rearview camera, 16-inch alloy wheels, power windows on all four doors, and three-point seatbelts for all passengers. However, it falls short compared to the Indian version by offering only 4 airbags for all versions.
