Mercedes-Benz Decided To Innovate In The Market With The Launch Of Its Electric Vehicle, Maybach, A Solar-Powered Off-Road Car. The Model Was Made In Partnership With The Late Fashion Designer, Virgil Abloh

Mercedes-Benz announced its new solar-powered off-road car, the Maybach. The design of the electric vehicle was developed in partnership between the German automaker and the famous fashion designer, Virgil Abloh, who sadly passed away last week. Mercedes-Benz claims that the project features an unusual design, unlike anything it has produced before. The solar-powered car was crafted from scratch, with all functionalities oriented towards sustainability, measuring 6 meters in length, featuring a transparent hood where the solar panels that power its batteries are located.

First Impressions Of The Solar-Powered Model From Mercedes-Benz

The electric vehicle was created to be a showcase model, with space for two occupants, inspired by the vast off-road landscapes around the world. Additionally, the vehicle features large wheels and a design that conveys the idea of a luxury car, yet capable of facing any challenge.

The interior of the solar-powered car is unusual, given that even with 6 meters in length, it only has two seats, which can be fully reclined for lying down.

The transparent, oval roof also allows for better visibility of the landscape. Although it is a showcase electric vehicle from Mercedes-Benz, traveling with this model on the roads would be breathtaking.

Mercedes-Benz Electric Vehicle Will Be Exhibited At The Rubell Museum

The solar-powered car was scheduled to be presented during Miami Art Week, which took place until December 5. However, in respect to the memory of the late designer and the wishes of Virgil Abloh’s relatives, Mercedes-Benz chose to showcase the model at the Rubell Museum in Miami. The event will be open to the public so that everyone can check out Abloh’s last project, who passed away on the 28th of last month due to cancer.

The designer was internationally recognized for his work in the industry, as the artistic director of his brand, Off-White, and Louis Vuitton. In an official statement, Mercedes-Benz expressed its devastation over Abloh’s loss, highlighting his great vision and inspirational designs.

The external and internal appearance of the solar-powered car is truly amazing, something that exudes modernity and class simultaneously; moreover, the idea of an off-road car powered by solar panels is one of the most anticipated innovations in the market.

First Solar-Powered Electric Car In The World May Hit The Market In 2024

The Dutch startup Lightyear is investing in the first solar-powered car on the market and has committed to the challenge of starting production for commercialization in 2024.

Its vehicle, Lightyear One, is a sedan measuring 5.05 meters in length and has a sharp, elongated body as its main characteristic. Its height is 1.4 meters and it features flowing lines to ensure the best possible aerodynamics.

According to the company, the medium-sized 60 kWh battery will provide the model with a range of 710 km, which is coupled with its 1,300 kilograms.
