Mercedes-Benz announced its new solar-powered off-road car, the Maybach. The design of the electric vehicle was developed in partnership between the German automaker and the famous fashion designer, Virgil Abloh, who sadly passed away last week. Mercedes-Benz claims that the project features an unusual design, unlike anything it has produced before. The solar-powered car was crafted from scratch, with all functionalities oriented towards sustainability, measuring 6 meters in length, featuring a transparent hood where the solar panels that power its batteries are located.

The event will be open to the public so that everyone can check out Abloh’s last project, who passed away on the 28th of last month due to cancer.
The designer was internationally recognized for his work in the industry, as the artistic director of his brand, Off-White, and Louis Vuitton. In an official statement, Mercedes-Benz expressed its devastation over Abloh’s loss, highlighting his great vision and inspirational designs.

First Solar-Powered Electric Car In The World May Hit The Market In 2024
The Dutch startup Lightyear is investing in the first solar-powered car on the market and has committed to the challenge of starting production for commercialization in 2024.
Its vehicle, Lightyear One, is a sedan measuring 5.05 meters in length and has a sharp, elongated body as its main characteristic. Its height is 1.4 meters and it features flowing lines to ensure the best possible aerodynamics.
According to the company, the medium-sized 60 kWh battery will provide the model with a range of 710 km, which is coupled with its 1,300 kilograms.
