The Promise Of A Return Of The New Celta 2025 Moved The Internet, But It Was All A Great Misunderstanding Involving The Mexican Chevrolet Aveo.
The new Celta 2025 became a sensation on social media and touched the hearts of those dreaming of an affordable car in Brazil. But the truth is harsh: it does not exist. The confusion began when images of the Mexican Chevrolet Aveo hatchback started circulating as if they were of an alleged new Celta. Despite the hope, the rumor is false, and Chevrolet has no plans to launch a model below the Onix.
What Is The Mexican Chevrolet Aveo Hatch?
The car that inspired the rumors about the new Celta 2025 is the Chevrolet Aveo, a compact car that the brand sells in Mexico. Resulting from a partnership with Chinese SAIC-Wuling, it is known in Asia as the 310C. Despite the similarity in size and appearance, the Aveo is not the Celta and never will be. In practice, it is a completely different model positioned in another market.
The Aveo is offered in Mexico in hatch and sedan versions, but Chevrolet has made it clear that it has no plans to bring the car to Brazil or to revive the Celta. The story of the name is also curious: “Aveo” has been used at another time for models like the Sonic.

Affordable? Not Even Close

One of the promises that captivated fans of the new Celta 2025 was the idea of an affordable car. However, that is also a lie. In Mexico, the Chevrolet Aveo hatch starts at 312,600 Mexican pesos, equivalent to about R$ 94.8 thousand. For comparison, the most basic Chevrolet Onix in Brazil costs R$ 90,770. In other words, calling the Aveo affordable is a stretch.
What Does The Chevrolet Aveo Offer?
Even as a compact car, the Chevrolet Aveo hatch has interesting features. There are three versions: LT manual, Black Edition, and LT Plus automatic. All come with a 1.5 naturally aspirated 4-cylinder engine that delivers 99 hp and 14.5 kgfm of torque. The entry-level version has a 6-speed manual transmission, while the automatic versions use CVT.
Standard items include a multimedia system with an 8″ screen, smartphone mirroring, stability control, six airbags, and a rearview camera. The Black Edition has an exclusive visual, while the LT Plus automatic brings additional items such as automatic air conditioning and an armrest on the front seats.
In dimensions, the Aveo hatch measures 4.17 m in length, 1.69 m in width, and 2.55 m in wheelbase, with a trunk capacity of 304 liters. Despite its features, it is not a substitute for the beloved Celta.
The New Celta 2025 Is Nothing But A Mirage…
The dream of reviving the Celta moved the Brazilian public, but the truth is that the new Celta 2025 does not exist. The Mexican Chevrolet Aveo hatch, while being a compact and interesting car, is far from occupying the place that the Celta once held. For those hoping for an affordable and practical car, there is hope that Chevrolet or another manufacturer will look into this niche in the future. For now, the new Celta 2025 is nothing but a myth.
