Cruz das Almas Will Receive New Mondial Factory With Multi-Million Investment and Promise of Regional Economic Impact.
Cruz das Almas, in the Recôncavo region of Bahia, is preparing to welcome a new industrial unit from the MK Group, which controls the brands Mondial and AIWA, with an initial investment of R$ 45.7 million and a forecast of up to 1,400 direct jobs throughout the phases of factory implementation.
The announcement was formalized after the signing of a letter of intent between the company and the Cruz das Almas City Hall, a municipality with just over 60,000 inhabitants according to the 2022 Census data from IBGE, mentioned in recent reports about the venture.
New Factory and Strategic Location in DICA 2
The new industrial plant will be built in the Cruz das Almas Industrial District 2 (DICA 2), on a plot of 200,000 square meters donated by the municipality.

The works are expected to start in the last quarter of this year, with completion of the first phase by the end of 2026.
In this initial phase, the unit is expected to focus on the production of electric ovens and air conditioners, products where Mondial is already active and that are in increasing demand in the Northeast region.
As the project advances, the factory may incorporate new product lines, according to the company’s expansion strategy for the northeastern market.
The company also plans to use the unit as a logistical support point for distribution from the Recôncavo, reducing delivery times and transportation costs.
Tax Incentives and Municipal Development Policy
As part of the local investment attraction policy, the Cruz das Almas City Hall granted IPTU (property tax) exemption on the urban area intended for the installation of the factory.
This measure is part of the package of benefits offered to make the municipality more competitive in the race for industrial ventures, in a scenario where other Bahia cities are also seeking to attract large-scale projects.
In addition to the tax exemption, the letter of intent signed between the municipality and the MK Group establishes guidelines for land occupation, implementation timelines, and obligations of the parties involved, focusing on job creation and increased indirect revenue through economic activity.
Reasons for Choosing Cruz das Almas
The decision to install the new unit in Cruz das Almas was made based on internal studies by the MK Group, which identified the municipality as a strategic point to expand the company’s industrial presence in the Northeast.
Among the factors considered are the location along BR-101, the infrastructure available in DICA 2, and the availability of labor, supported by the presence of technical and higher education institutions in the region.
Cruz das Almas hosts, for example, the Federal University of Recôncavo da Bahia (UFRB) and other professional training structures, which tends to favor the qualification of workers for areas such as production, logistics, maintenance, and quality control.
According to the City Hall, the choice of the municipality was also influenced by growth indicators and the possibility of consolidating a new industrial development hub outside the Metropolitan Region of Salvador, contributing to the interiorization of investments in the state.
Expected Impacts on the Economy and Labor Market
The municipal administration projects that the installation of the Mondial industrial unit will act as a watershed for the economy of Cruz das Almas and nearby cities.
In addition to the expected direct jobs, the expectation is that the venture will stimulate productive chains related to transportation, food, outsourced services, construction, and commerce.
The mayor Ednaldo Ribeiro stated that the arrival of the factory is seen as a milestone for the municipality.
“The arrival of Mondial represents a historical milestone for Cruz das Almas. It is a giant step toward the economic development of our municipality. We are talking about job creation, more income circulating in the city, real opportunities for our young people and for those who have always dreamed of a decent job close to home.”
The local administration assesses that the increase in income and formal employment may reduce informality in the region and strengthen the tax base through consumption and service taxes, even with the granting of direct tax benefits to the venture.
As the project progresses through the planning and ground preparation stages in DICA 2, residents, merchants, and potential workers are closely following the news, awaiting the opening of the first selection processes and more details on professional profiles that will be prioritized in hiring.
