Yamaha’s Motorcycle And Outboard Motor Production In Amazonas Will Be Suspended Between September 9 And 24
The lack of parts coming from Asia has forced Yamaha to again halt operations at its factory in Manaus, in the state of Amazonas, now during the period between September 9 and 24. The measure adopted by the Japanese company, which manufactures a vast range of products in various and distinct areas, will interrupt assembly on some motorcycle lines and also outboard motors. The shortage of parts had already forced the manufacturer to halt production in the first half of May. Read this news as well: Port of Açu Plans To Attract New Pulp Factories To Its Industrial Park

Still Facing The Pandemic, The International Logistics Scenario Brought An Adverse Situation
The official statement released by Yamaha says, “Considering the adverse situation of the international logistics scenario, caused by the effects of the pandemic by the Delta variant of the Coronavirus in Asia, and aiming to adjust the flow of receiving inputs, the Yamaha Group will suspend activities in some of its motorcycle and outboard motor production lines from September 9 to 24. In the affected lines, employees will be on collective vacation. Part of the production, as well as other operational activities of Yamaha Group companies in Brazil, will remain in regular operation during this period.”
According to the company, employees of the affected lines in the factory will have collective vacation. The halt could compromise the new annual projection for the motorcycle sector of 1.22 million units. When it revised the sector’s numbers upwards, the manufacturers’ association (Abraciclo) had indicated that there were no prospects for new halts due to parts shortages.

This Is Not The 1st Time The Factory In Amazonas Stops
It is worth noting that the suspension announced by Yamaha is not the first this year. For example, last May, the motorcycle production line of the brand was halted between the 3rd and 12th. At that time, as reported by the newspaper A Crítica, the workers at the unit went on collective vacation.
Furthermore, in January 2021, Honda Motorcycles also announced the temporary halt of its factory in Manaus, located in the state of Amazonas.

Renault announced on 08/20 that it will only resume passenger vehicle production at the beginning of September. This is the second time that the resumption of activities at the Ayrton Senna Complex (located in São José dos Pinhais-PR) has had to be postponed. And the problem remains the same: the lack of semiconductors. The return of employees to the factory is scheduled to occur starting on the 4th of next month. That is, seven days after the last stipulated date (08/30).
The statement from Renault sent to the press says, “Renault do Brasil informs that due to the impacts caused by Covid-19 on the manufacturing of electronic components, production at the passenger vehicle factory, in the Ayrton Senna Complex, remains suspended until September 3. It will not be possible to return to production on August 30 as previously planned, with the end of the application period of MP 1.045/21.”
Renault confirmed that it is halting its factories in Brazil once again. The company is, like other automakers in the sector, suffering from the lack of semiconductors, which are so important for vehicle production. This is not the first time Renault has been forced to interrupt its production at the São José dos Pinhais complex, in the state of Paraná.
