The Delivery of Scania Trucks to the Carrier
According to Scania, the 124 trucks are R 410 tractors. As per the planned schedule, the first deliveries will occur in the last quarter of 2021. Therefore, all models will be operational throughout 2022. According to Silvio Munhoz, Scania’s Solutions Sales Director in Brazil, it is a “very” logistic operator. “And it is joining shippers in the search for a more sustainable sector. A serious commitment that guides all the company’s actions,” he states.
According to Reiter Log, with the acquisition of the new gas-powered trucks from Scania, such actions aimed at using alternative energy began in 2014. Thus, the investment goes beyond the purchase of gas trucks. That is, among the measures is the purchase of larger road implements. This way, it increases the load transported by trailers. “We have made a commitment to offer a new way of transporting,” says Reiter Log’s CEO, Vinícius Reiter Pilz. According to him, one of the objectives is to reduce the sector’s environmental impacts.

The Carrier Also Plans to Produce Its Own Gas
Furthermore, the company is studying the production of fuel for the new trucks acquired from Scania. “In this sense, we entered into an agreement with GEO Energética,” says the executive. GEO Energética is one of the leading developers of solutions for biogas production in the country. That is, derived from organic waste from the agricultural sector.
According to the company’s CEO, Alessandro Gardemann, the product can replace natural gas generated from fossil sources. “Thus, we provide a clean solution for transportation,” he says. The new trucks will operate in the Southeast and South regions and are expected to travel about 10,000 km per month.
