MSC Cruises Announced the Order of Two New Ships in the World Class, Further Expanding Its Fleet of Mega Vessels.
In a new strategic move, MSC Cruises revealed its intention to incorporate two more ships from the World Class into its fleet, with deliveries expected in 2029 and 2030, respectively. Temporarily identified as MSC World Class 5 and MSC World Class 6, the ships still depend on the formalization of financing for the contract to be officially finalized.
The vessels will be built at the traditional Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in France, where the previous models of the same class were also developed.
The expectation is that the new ships will follow the same design and technology standards as the MSC World Europa and MSC World Asia, with an estimated capacity of up to 6,800 passengers.

This statement reinforces the company’s positioning to align high-end comfort and entertainment with sustainable practices, such as advanced water treatment systems, energy efficiency, and emissions reduction.
World Class Fleet Continues to Grow
The World Class, launched by MSC Cruises, represents a new chapter in cruise ship engineering. Currently, two vessels are already in operation:
- MSC World Europa – The first of the class, was delivered in 2022 during the World Cup in Qatar. It operates in the Western Mediterranean.
- MSC World America – Recently inaugurated in the United States, it offers cruises in the Caribbean.
Another two ships are under construction and set to debut:
- MSC World Asia – With delivery expected by the end of 2026, it should also sail in the Mediterranean.
- MSC World Atlantic – Expected to launch in 2027, will travel in the Caribbean region.
The arrival of MSC World Class 5 and MSC World Class 6 completes the company’s plan to maintain six ships of the World Class in operation by the end of the decade, consolidating its leadership among cruise lines with the greatest capacity and innovation in large-scale cruising.
