Petrocity Porto Will Build Port Center Expected to Generate Many Direct and Indirect Jobs
Living in moments of great expectation, Petrocity Porto envisions the construction of the Port Center of São Mateus in Espírito Santo. This center will be a complex of three million square meters with various terminals serving multiple sectors, including oil and gas. Activities related to supply boats will be conducted from this area, featuring a fluids park, a pipe park, effective support services, repair units, and spare parts.
The expectation is that more than 2,500 jobs will be generated just from the port’s construction, which is set to begin in July. In addition to this project, the development of the Minas-Espirito Santo railroad (EFEMES) is being advanced, linking the port center to Minas Gerais.
Currently, the project only needs the environmental license and the signing of the adhesion contract to commence installation. The contract has not yet been signed due to the missing license. The process has already been regularized with Antaq (National Waterway Transport Agency) and the Secretary of Ports of the Presidency of the Republic (SEP). It is an area of 3 million square meters owned by Petrocity Portos, the controlling company of the enterprise.

Billions of barrels on the equatorial margin could lead Amapá to double its oil production in Brazil — the state aims to enter the route of companies in the Campos Basin, attract investments, and boost jobs and businesses in the oil and gas sector.
The forecast for the process to advance is to start construction in July 2019, with two years of works, meaning that by 2021 the company aims to have the operating license so that they can begin operations after Antaq’s release. For the oil and gas sector, the port will be at the center of all onshore and offshore activities in gas and oil exploration.
In addition to the oil sector, the port will also cater to ornamental rocks and cellulose activities, container handling, roll on and roll off, as well as electricity generation units, photovoltaic energy, and substations. Everything is in the memorandum phase, waiting to sign the final contracts at the turn of the year.
The economy of the Espírito Santo region will certainly have a positive impact; the north and northwest of the state, the south of Bahia, and even the east of Minas Gerais will be directly affected, with the company’s vision for the terminal’s deployment and the internalization of the economy.
The forecast is that the port’s works will generate 2,500 direct and indirect jobs, with 1,500 direct and indirect in the operation of the enterprise. For the construction of the railroad, we are anticipating more than 3,000 jobs.
