Horse Makes Investment of R$ 200 Million in New Industrial Line in São José dos Pinhais for Aluminum Engine Head Production.

The Spanish multinational Horse, known for manufacturing propulsion systems, announced on Tuesday (10) a new investment of R$ 200 million in its plant located in São José dos Pinhais, in the Curitiba Metropolitan Region. The announcement was made during a meeting with the governor of Paraná, Carlos Massa Ratinho Junior, and marks the expansion of the company’s operations in the state. The new industrial line will be responsible for the production of aluminum engine heads.

Horse’s Investment in Brazil

This new investment adds to a previous R$ 100 million investment announced in November 2023, intended for the installation of an engine production line.

With this, Horse strengthens its presence in Paraná and reaffirms its confidence in the economic and logistical conditions of the region.

“This is another important investment that Horse is making here in Paraná, showing that São José dos Pinhais continues to establish itself as a relevant automotive hub,” highlighted Ratinho Junior during the event.

The new line is expected to start operations in October 2026, with a capacity to produce 210,000 heads per year.

The components will be destined for the assembly of 1.0 and 1.3 flex fuel engines, which currently use parts imported from Europe. Local manufacturing of these heads will reduce costs and strengthen the national automotive industry.

New Head Production Line

The new head production line at Horse will be pioneering in the use of a new aluminum gravity injection casting process.

This technique is innovative within the multinational itself, being the first time it will be used in one of its global plants.

According to company specialists, this process ensures better quality in the mechanical and metallurgical properties of the products.

According to Wesley Palma, Horse’s Operations Director, the company already uses other aluminum injection methods, such as low and high pressure. However, the new line will add a differential by including gravity injection.

“With this new technology, we will replace imported parts and manufacture them directly here in Paraná, further strengthening our commitment to local production,” said Palma.

In addition to the innovation in the production process, the new facility will also be designed to adopt more sustainable casting methods.

Among the main innovations, there is the use of zero landfill technologies, lower energy consumption, and the use of inorganic sand, ammonia-free. This reinforces Horse’s commitment to reducing the environmental impact of its operations.

The expectation is that the new industrial line will generate 60 direct jobs, expanding the company’s workforce in São José dos Pinhais and contributing to the development of the local economy.

Continuous Investments by Horse in Paraná

Horse has a solid track record of investments in Paraná.

The company is one of the largest engine manufacturers in the world, with a special focus on developing solutions for low-emission vehicles, hybrids, and high-performance internal combustion engines, especially when combined with synthetic fuels.

Its factory in São José dos Pinhais plays a central role in supplying engines to major manufacturers, including Renault, with which it has a long-standing partnership.

With the recent spin-off of Horse from Renault, the company gained greater autonomy to supply its equipment to other brands, diversifying its customer base.

The factory has already produced over 5 million combustion engines, reinforcing its importance in the Brazilian automotive landscape.

In November 2023, Horse had already announced an investment of R$ 100 million for the production of the Turbo Flex 1.3 HR13 engine, with manufacturing scheduled to begin in November 2024.

These ongoing investments reinforce Paraná’s role as a strategic center for the company, which sees the state as a favorable environment for the growth of its operations.

The Importance of the Multinational’s Investment

The announcement of the investment of R$ 200 million was attended by several authorities and representatives from Horse.

In addition to Governor Ratinho Junior, the event featured Eduardo Bekin, Director-President of Invest Paraná, Antonio Vaz, Global Director of Process Engineering at Horse, and Hans Hoefnagels, Director of Public Relations at the company.

Also present was Carlos de Paula, Coordinator of Government Relations for Renault, emphasizing the historical connection between the two companies.

During the meeting, Governor Ratinho Junior highlighted the importance of the trust that multinational companies like Horse place in the state.

According to him, investments of this size not only generate jobs but also position Paraná prominently on the national automotive scene.

The governor also emphasized that the state offers a favorable environment for companies seeking innovation and sustainability in their operations.

Norberto Ortigara, Secretary of the Treasury of Paraná, also spoke about the relevance of this new investment. For him, Horse’s choice to invest again in the state reflects the quality of the local workforce and the innovative environment that Paraná offers.

He believes that the partnership between government and the private sector will continue to yield positive results for the local economy.

With this new investment, Horse takes another important step in its growth and consolidation strategy in Brazil, expanding its production capacity and adopting more advanced technologies.
