DPSP Group Is a Pioneer in the Pharmaceutical Industry in the Search for Renewable Energy Sources for Its Stores Through the Agreement with GreenYellow
The pharmaceutical industry will never be the same after this agreement closed between DPSP Group (Drogaria São Paulo and Drogaria Pacheco) and the energy solutions company GreenYellow. This agreement will enable the construction of 5 solar plants in the cities of Riolândia, Barretos, and José Bonifácio in the state of São Paulo, Itaperuna in Rio de Janeiro, and Planaltina in the Federal District. This will result in a production of over 15 GWh, which will be enough to make the store network completely powered by renewable energy sources (solar energy).
The group’s main objective is to contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and make energy supply for the stores less costly. This transition in energy supply is a historic milestone that draws significant attention for the initiative.

A study reveals the expansion of renewable energy procurement in Brazil and shows how companies are taking advantage of opportunities to reduce expenses, ensure energy efficiency, and strengthen strategic environmental commitments.
The amount of energy produced by these solar plants that will be built is sufficient to supply nearly 8,000 homes and reduce the emission of 1,790 tons of carbon dioxide (CO2), one of the main greenhouse gases. This production will be generated by a fleet of approximately 25,000 solar panels that will produce more than 15 GWh.
This all allows for energy savings on the part of the company and also contributes to society by generating clean energy. With this production, DPSP Group expects to make the energy supply of its network 100% renewable by the end of 2023, becoming the first pharmaceutical network in Brazil to achieve this feat.
Drogaria São Paulo and Drogaria Pacheco Are Starting a New Era with Solar Plants in the Pharmaceutical Field
According to Jonas Laurindvicius, president of Drogaria São Paulo and Drogaria Pacheco, the partnership will allow for a transformation in thinking within the sector regarding the energy matrix that keeps pharmaceutical industries running. The initiative even encourages competitors to adopt this measure, which will seek to align their positions with environmental responsibility.
The established contract is set to last for 10 years, which will reduce greenhouse gas emissions by thousands of tons during this period. The French multinational GreenYellow is responsible for the initial funding and for bringing the project to life by constructing, operating, and maintaining the solar plants.
The commercial director of GreenYellow in Brazil, Marcelo Varlese, also emphasizes the importance of this agreement for the national scenario, as it will encourage competitors to seek renewable energy sources. After all, Drogaria São Paulo and Drogaria Pacheco have great visibility, given that they are the largest pharmaceutical networks in the country.
After All, Who Is GreenYellow?
This French multinational is specialized in solutions involving the use of solar energy, from commercialization to efficiency management. Currently, the company operates in over 8 countries, accounting for more than 3,000 ongoing projects. Of these, 1,400 are active in Brazil, including now the new agreement with Drogaria São Paulo and Drogaria Pacheco.
By the end of 2020, the company had already achieved an energy savings of 910 GWh since the start of its operations in 2013. This is enough to supply around 460,000 homes over the course of a year. And it doesn’t stop there! There are 40 solar plants operating or under construction, totaling 124 MWp, and clients include major names such as Extra Supermarket, Claro, Magazine Luiza, and Pão de Açúcar.
