IT Market in Brazil Expected to Grow 14% This Year
According to the Brazilian Association of Software Companies (Abes), investments in information technology in Brazil this year are expected to grow by 14.3%, despite the election year and inflation. According to Jorge Sukarie Neto, a councilor of the association, Brazil has the potential to account for up to 3% of global IT investments.
Last year, Brazil accounted for 1.65% of global IT investments and grew above the global average of 11%, reaching a value of about US$ 46 billion, a 17.4% increase. Thus, Brazil ranks 10th on the list of technology investments by country in the past year.
Until 2014, Brazil was in 7th place in the ranking, but according to Neto, the expectation is that this year the country may gain at least one position in the ranking, or perhaps even two. In relation to Latin America, the country is at the top of the investment ranking and represents 40% of the US$ 115 billion allocated to information technology last year.
