WEG Manufactures Three Giant Electric Generators Weighing 285 Tons for Hydroelectric Plant in Santa Catarina

WEG, one of the largest manufacturers of turbines and electric motors in the world, was selected to supply generators for the UHE São Roque, located in Vargem/SC. Recently, Ruhrpumpen, one of the leading manufacturers of pump systems in the world, chose WEG to supply and install the motors for the Ramal do Agreste project, one of Brazil’s key water works that will bring water to approximately 70 municipalities in the state of Pernambuco.

The generators are one of the most important components of the venture, and for UHE São Roque, WEG supplied three SLW 4000 hydro generators with a unit power of 50.5 MVA, 13.8 kV, and 180 rpm, including their auxiliary equipment.
