Water is an indispensable resource for life and, although it is a natural source, delivering it to people requires efficient infrastructure and equipment. Keeping this in mind, Ruhrpumpen, one of the main manufacturers of pumping systems in the world, chose WEG to be part of the supply for the Agreste Branch Project, which will bring water to about 70 municipalities in the state of Pernambuco.
This water infrastructure is an extension of the Integration Project of the São Francisco River with Watersheds of the Northeastern Region. The main objective is to capture water from the Barro Branco dam in Sertânia/PE and redirect it to the Ipojuca reservoir in Arcoverde/PE.

Norway will excavate 3 million cubic meters of rock to open a 1,700-meter maritime tunnel, where ships will pass through a mountain in 10 minutes, escaping a stretch that has killed more than 30 people since 1900.
To drive the centrifugal pumps to be installed at the station, three 900-frame, 8,000 kW, 13,800 V wound rotor induction motors from the Master line were chosen, which stand out for their flexibility in electrical and mechanical design. These versatile motors allow for different configurations suitable for various applications. Additionally, using ring motors presents low starting current close to the nominal value, thereby minimizing voltage drop, optimizing the substation, and consequently reducing investment in the electrical installation.
By choosing WEG Master line motors, Ruhrpumpen invests in reliability for the project that will benefit around 2.2 million people and contribute to the development of the region. Participating in this project strengthens WEG as an important player in the water sector, creating another reference for supply in this market.
