Gol is the most manufactured, marketed, registered and exported car in the history of Brazil. The farewell edition has 1000 units and will cost more than R$ 120 thousand!

Volkswagen Gol is at the time of death! After more than 40 years as one of the most successful cars in Brazil, the German multinational decrees the end of production of the VW Gol, which will cease to exist by the beginning of 2023. Lovers of replacing the iconic Beetle will have to prepare their pockets, the last units will cost more than the T-Cross SUV!

The farewell edition of the compact veteran is already on its way to dealerships, undisputed leader of the automotive market for almost three decades, which featured three generations, many restylings and versions.

The iconic Volkswagen Gol Last Edition will feature an upgrade and should cost more than R$ 120 – that is, more than the T-Cross SUV. There are no official images yet, just that the look will have exclusive details, as anticipated by the Mobiauto website.

The Gol Last Edition is expected to be limited to a thousand units, but if there is demand, production can reach 3 thousand.

German automaker data show that from 1983 to 2023, more than 4 million VW Gol units were sold in the Brazilian market. It is also worth mentioning that the model was for 27 consecutive years (from 1986 to 2013) sales leader in Brazil.

But not everything is flowers and from the beginning of 2023 the Polo Track will take over as Volkswagen's entry-level car.

Understand the reasons for Volkswagen to decree the end of production of the replacement for the iconic Beetle

After all, what were the reasons that led Volkswagen to decree the end of Gol? What is behind the decision – daring and wrong for many – to end the production of this sales phenomenon, synonymous with a robust, valued and easy to maintain car?

“The Gol is an icon like the Volkswagen Beetle or the Kombi. It will continue to be produced in 2022, but in the future, these vehicles will not meet the new legislation. It is being assimilated, because the legislation has changed and will affect Gol. We will continue to produce, but our strategy in the future will be the platform MQB.", said the president of Volkswagen in South America, Pablo Di Si, in a press conference.
