Volkswagen Gol is on its last leg! After more than 40 years as one of the best-selling cars in Brazil, the German multinational has announced the end of VW Gol production, which will cease to exist by early 2023. Fans of the iconic Beetle’s replacement will have to prepare their wallets, as the last units will cost more than the T-Cross SUV!
The farewell edition of the veteran compact is already on its way to dealerships, the unquestionable market leader for almost three decades, which has seen three generations, many remodels, and versions.

Data from the German automaker shows that from 1983 to 2023, more than 4 million units of the VW Gol were sold in the Brazilian market. It should also be noted that the model was the best-selling car in Brazil for 27 consecutive years (from 1986 to 2013).
But not everything is rosy, as from early 2023, the Polo Track will take over as Volkswagen’s entry-level car.

“The Gol is an icon like the Beetle or the Kombi. It will continue to be produced in 2022, but in the future, these vehicles will not meet the new legislation. It is a process of assimilation because the legislation has changed and will affect the Gol. We will continue producing, but our strategy in the future will be the MQB platform.,” said Volkswagen’s president in South America, Pablo Di Si, at a press conference.
