Originating from the Blue Macaw project, the used Chevrolet Celta is winning over many drivers for costing less than R$ 20 thousand. Launched in late 2000 and produced until 2016, the popular car has remained practically unchanged in terms of style over the years. However, this consistency has not hindered its success: more than 1.5 million units were sold in its 15 years on the market.

Even in 2024, the used Chevrolet Celta continues to be a popular choice among used car buyers in Brazil, and there are several reasons for this ongoing demand. Firstly, the cost-effectiveness of the Celta is an important factor. With prices below R$ 20 thousand, the Celta offers an affordable option for those seeking a reliable car without spending much.

In addition to the attractive price, the Celta is known for its durability and low maintenance cost. Replacement parts are easily found and relatively cheap, making the car a practical option for many drivers. Its simple and robust mechanics facilitate repairs, and many mechanics are familiar with the model, ensuring efficient and economical service.

The fuel consumption of the Celta is also a positive point. With an fuel-efficient engine, it offers good energy efficiency, essential in times of high fuel prices. This makes the Celta a viable choice for those who need a car for daily use, whether for commuting or small trips.

Another factor contributing to the popularity of the Chevrolet Celta is its reliability. Over the years, the Celta has built a reputation for being a sturdy and reliable car, capable of handling the varying conditions of Brazilian roads without major issues.

In summary, the used Chevrolet Celta continues to be sought after in 2024 due to its affordable price, low maintenance cost, fuel efficiency, and proven reliability, making it an attractive option for many used car buyers.

Initially, it was offered only with a 60 hp four-cylinder engine, which, like the platform, was also derived from the Corsa B that debuted here in 1994. The idea was to provide the Brazilian driver with a simple yet practical vehicle that is easy and cheap to maintain, something easily found in the veteran Volkswagen Gol, Fiat Uno, and Ford Ka.

In 2002, the Chevrolet Celta began to be sold with four doors and a 1.0 VHC engine that practically delivered up to 10 extra hp compared to the first. The following year, the Energy version, equipped with a 1.4 engine with 85 hp, arrived here.

However, the biggest change occurred in 2005, taking advantage of the emergence of multi-fuel engines as seen with the debuting VW Gol Power 1.6 in 2003.

In the GM popular car, the power with both ethanol and gasoline was 70 hp, but the torque with plant-based fuel was 9 kgfm and with petroleum fuel was 8.8 kgfm. To stay in the increasingly competitive market for popular models, in the 2006 line, the hatch received its first redesign, summarizing the front assembly with a larger grille and headlights.

What is the Best Version of the Used Celta to Buy?

The used Celta, regardless of the version chosen, is a popular car that has definitely pleased many, and even though it has been discontinued, it is still successful.

The proof of this statement is in the latest November study by Fenabrave, which points to the model as the sixth most traded car with 20,441 units sold, only losing to the Toyota Corolla, Chevrolet Onix, Fiat Uno, Fiat Palio, and VW Gol.

Sold in two and four door options since 2002, the tip is to opt for the versions with more availability, meaning the four-door and flexible versions that run on gasoline or ethanol, released from 2005 onwards. Power steering is one of the most demanded items. In second is air conditioning.

If you want a bit more power, you can go for the Energy 1.4 (85 hp), launched in 2003. Although rare in the used market, it is as economical as the 1.0, averaging 8.4 km/l in the city and 14.4 km/l on the highway.

The best version of the used Chevrolet Celta, considering cost-benefit, is the Celta 1.0 LT. Launched in 2012, this version offers some important differentiators:

  1. Comfort and Convenience: The Celta LT offers features such as air conditioning, power steering, and power windows, which are not common in older and basic versions.
  2. Fuel Economy: Equipped with a 1.0 Flex engine, the Celta LT is known for its fuel economy, both in the city and on the road, which is a significant advantage in times of high fuel prices.
  3. Low Maintenance: Like all Celta models, the LT version is known for its low maintenance costs and availability of parts, making life easier for owners.

To help with your search, here are some links where you can find the used Chevrolet Celta 1.0 LT at affordable prices:

  1. OLX Brazil: Used Celta 1.0 LT on OLX
  2. Webmotors: Used Celta 1.0 LT on Webmotors
  3. iCarros: Used Celta on iCarros

The Chevrolet Celta 1.0 LT is the best used version for those looking for an affordable, economical car with good cost-benefit. With its history of reliability and low maintenance costs, it remains a popular choice among Brazilian drivers.

In the case of the headlight lenses, even in a newer used Chevrolet Celta, they often fog up due to poor sealing between the transparent piece and the reflector. A simple solution that can fix the problem is to apply a thin layer of silicone between the two mentioned components.

The brake discs and pads should also be checked carefully due to their shorter durability: around 15,000 km on average. However, there are cases of replacements at even lower mileage.

Regarding recalls, check if the intended unit has already undergone the replacement of the fuel filter for vehicles produced from 10/2013 to April 2014. Another item involved is the driver’s airbag. Therefore, carefully check if the units produced between 2012 and 2015 have already had the part replaced.
