New Measures Approved by ANP for Fuel Supply Activities Due to the Pandemic Scenario

In recent days, ANP (National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels) approved new flexibility measures for fuel supply activities.

One of the measures was the removal of the prior requirement for inspection of fuel storage facilities for the granting of operating authorization. This measure has been temporarily suspended due to the current pandemic scenario, in which social distancing rules are in effect.

Additionally, besides this measure, the agency exempted liquid and aviation fuel producers from compliance with rules (resolutions) that determine the formation of stocks of gasoline, diesel, and aviation kerosene.

The suspension of such rules is temporary and will be in effect as long as the measures to contain the coronavirus are in place.

According to the agency, in a statement to Petronotícias, “These measures aimed to minimize the negative impacts on the internal fuel supply, safeguard investments in the production and distribution sectors, and preserve the health of ANP employees who conduct inspections at storage facilities prior to the granting of authorizations, considering the current context of the health crisis resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic.”
