Honda plans to discontinue the CB 500F in Brazil, a decision already made in other markets. The replacement will be the new Honda Hornet 500, presented at the EICMA 2023 alongside the 1,000 cc Hornet. With this, the “Hornet” line now has three models: the CB 750, launched in 2022, and the new Honda Hornet 500 and 1000, revealed at last year’s Milan Show. This change promises to bring innovations and new options for the brand’s fans in Brazil.

Replacement for the CB 500F Delivers 48 HP of Maximum Power

The main changes in the new Honda Hornet 500 are in the design, debuting aggressive new lines, similar to its larger siblings CB750 and CB1000. The replacement for the CB 500F features full-LED lighting, a remodeled headlight designed for better light distribution. Its design includes a small windscreen below the front lens, with side flaps.

At the rear, the highlight of the new Honda Hornet 500 is the tapered tail and the verticalized taillight, also with a new design. The dashboard is also unique, with a 5-inch TFT display and connectivity managed through controls on the left grip. There is also connectivity with smartphones via the Honda RoadSync app, for iOS or Android. The app also allows access with headphones inside the helmet.

In other respects, the replacement for the CB 500F carries the same specifications as the now-retired model. The suspensions have also not been changed, remaining the same, consisting of a 41 mm inverted Showa SFF-BP front fork and rear mono-shock with pro-link, preload adjustment, and a cross-linked steel swingarm. The brakes also preserve the competent package from its predecessors, with two 296 mm discs and Nissin radial calipers in front and a 240 mm disc with a single caliper at the rear.

The two-level seat of the new Honda Hornet 500 is 785 mm off the ground. The aluminum foot pegs, the lightweight alloy wheels with 17-inch rims, and the tapered handlebar provide a more upright riding position typical of urban motorcycles. The ground clearance is 145 mm, capable of overcoming bumps, the tank holds 17.1 liters, and the weight is 188 kg.

Possible Price of the Replacement for the CB 500F

The new Honda Hornet 500 will replace the CB 500F, and the process is currently happening first in Europe, where the model has been sold since the beginning of this year. The suggested price there is €7,000.

Converted to our currency, the value is around R$ 38 thousand. As is the case here, this is a suggested price, not accounting for taxes or shipping fees. For now, there is still no forecast for the launch of the new Hornet 500 in the Brazilian market. However, it could serve as the replacement for the CB 500F in the market as early as 2025.
