Nissan has officially announced the start of production of the new Nissan Kicks in Brazil. The factory is located in Resende (RJ). The second-generation SUV will debut in June this year. It will feature a new engine in the Kicks lineup: 1.0 turbo. The transmission will be CVT automatic, eliminating the dual-clutch option used in the Renault Kardian.
Production Starts in Resende (RJ); Launch Confirmed for June
Nissan announced this week the start of national production. The first pre-production units of the new Nissan Kicks in Brazil are already being manufactured. The official launch for the press will take place in May. The arrival of the SUV at dealerships is announced for June 2025.
The Resende (RJ) factory received an investment of R$ 2.8 billion to produce the new Kicks and a future entry-level SUV. 98 new robots and 29 AGVs (automated guided vehicles) have been installed.

New Nissan Kicks in Brazil: Goodbye Aspirated, Hello Turbo Engine with CVT
The big news of the new Nissan Kicks in Brazil is under the hood. For the first time, the SUV will have a 1.0 turbo flex engine. It will be the same engine that powers the Renault Kardian, but produced by Nissan in Resende, potentially having different numbers (the Kardian has 125 hp / 22.4 kgfm). The current 1.6 aspirated engine will not be offered in the new generation.
Another important point is the transmission: it will be an automatic CVT. Sources and the specialized press have confirmed that Nissan will not use the dual-clutch automated transmission in the Kicks, opting for the more reliable CVT, which is well accepted in Brazil. There is no manual transmission option. The hybrid e-Power technology is currently not planned for the Brazilian Kicks.
Kicks Gets New Exterior and Interior Design
The new Nissan Kicks in Brazil has been completely redesigned. The front features a wide grille with horizontal lines integrating into the headlights. All versions will have LED panels. The two-tone paint option with a different color roof (B-Ton) will remain available. At the rear, the taillights have been redesigned, extending to the sides and connected by a horizontal bar.
The interior is also entirely new. The highlight is the dashboard with two integrated 12.3-inch screens (instruments and multimedia). The center console has been revamped and includes an electronic parking brake and auto hold function. The visible trim is of higher quality, using soft-touch materials.
Larger and More Technological
The new Nissan Kicks in Brazil is larger than the current generation. The length increased by 6 cm, reaching 4.37 meters. The wheelbase grew by 4 cm, to 2.66 meters. The width is 1.80 m (+4 cm) and the height is 1.63 m (+2 cm). The trunks will also be larger than the current 432 liters; it is estimated to be between 450 and 470 liters for the Brazilian standard.
In technology, the SUV brings significant advancements. Starting from the entry-level version, it will have 6 airbags, adaptive cruise control (ACC), and automatic emergency braking (AEB). It will maintain the 360º camera in the more expensive versions. It will feature a driving mode selector and a new multimedia center with wireless mirroring for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The rear suspension may be multilink (like in the USA) or retain the torsion beam (not yet confirmed for Brazil).
Versions and Prices
According to information from the press, the new Nissan Kicks in Brazil will have four versions: Sense, Advance, Exclusive, and Platinum. The current model will continue to be sold. It will be renamed “Kicks Play” and will have two versions, with prices between R$ 116 thousand and R$ 140 thousand.
As a result, the estimate is that the new Nissan Kicks in Brazil will start at R$ 150 thousand. The top-of-the-line version (Platinum), equipped with more features, is expected to be priced around R$ 190 thousand. Nissan has historically positioned the Kicks competitively against its direct rivals.
