Nissan Bets On Affordable And Technological Electric Sedan That Already Surprises With Record Sales, High Range And Exclusive Features, But Can This Phenomenon Become Reality In Brazil?

Nissan debuts in China an affordable electric sedan, packed with advanced technology and competitive range, while facing strong competition and global challenges. The model surprises with unprecedented features and promises to shake up the local electric vehicle market.

Nissan has just launched in China an electric sedan that draws attention for combining affordable pricing and advanced technology, but which, for now, does not arrive in Brazil with the same competitive cost.

With an initial price equivalent to about R$ 95 thousand, the N7 model accumulated an impressive 17,215 orders in just 35 days in the Chinese market — a number that surpasses the initial sales of the local leader BYD Qin L EV, one of the local leaders.

Despite the inviting price and a range of up to 625 km according to the Chinese CLTC cycle, the electric sedan still has no forecast for being sold in Brazil at a similar price, due to taxes and logistical costs that inflate the vehicle’s price in the domestic market.

Nissan’s Strategy For The Chinese Market

Launched officially on April 28, 2025, the Nissan N7 represents the Japanese automaker’s main bet to regain space in the competitive electric vehicle sector in China, the largest global market for the segment.

The model is a product of Nissan’s joint venture with Dongfeng Motor Corporation, a partnership that reinforces the company’s commitment to capture a significant share of the local market.

In just 18 days, the N7 reached the mark of 10 thousand orders, a record for electric vehicles from foreign joint ventures in China, consolidating the initial success of the strategy.

Dimensions And Range That Impress

The sedan measures 4.93 meters in length, slightly larger than the Tesla Model 3, and is offered in five different versions, equipped with lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries of 58 kWh or 73 kWh.

This technology provides a range of up to 625 km in the CLTC cycle, a standard known for measuring distances under very favorable conditions, but still expresses a competitive range in the electric vehicle market.

Technological Interior And Semi-Autonomous Driving

Inside, the Nissan N7 stands out for its embedded technology and comfort.

The digital dashboard and multimedia center follow the modern standard expected for sedans in the segment, but what really stands out is the semi-autonomous driving system, developed by the Chinese company Momenta.

This system offers driver assistance such as high-speed driving, automatic parking in various scenarios, and other features that promise to ease driving and increase safety.

Details That Make The Difference: Smart Fridge

Additionally, the sedan offers an unusual detail: a smart fridge embedded in the console, a rare luxury even among premium electric vehicles.

Nissan’s Challenges And The Competitive Market

Although the launch and initial sales generate excitement, the scenario for Nissan remains challenging.

Globally, the automaker is undergoing restructuring plans to cut 20,000 jobs, seeking to adjust costs amid intense competition.

In China, the market is becoming increasingly competitive, with local manufacturers rapidly gaining ground.

BYD, for example, launched the Qin L EV, a sedan with a similar proposition and nearly identical price, which sold over 10,000 units in just the first week.

Other Japanese brands are also trying to maintain their presence.

Mazda, which is facing a decline in sales in China, saw its electric SUV EZ-60 surpass 20,000 reservations, signaling that the competition will be fierce.

It is important to note that in China, many of these “order” numbers are based on reservations with non-refundable deposits that can be canceled within a few days, which may temporarily inflate expectations for actual sales.

This means that the commercial success of the Nissan N7 can still be relativized as these reservations convert into actual sales.

What Brazil Can Expect?

In Brazil, the launch of the Nissan N7 is still an unknown in terms of pricing and availability.

Due to high taxes and logistical costs for importing electric vehicles, the sedan is unlikely to arrive in the national market at the attractive price practiced in China, around R$ 95 thousand.

This fact limits the model’s impact here, even in light of the growing demand for electric cars in the country.

While Brazil advances slowly in the adoption of electric vehicles, with still timid incentives, the reality for local consumers remains distant from the offerings and prices in China.

For Nissan, the N7 is more than just a car: it is an attempt to reposition itself in a market that is evolving rapidly and where technological innovation and competitive pricing define survival.

The combination of range, advanced assisted driving features, and comfort, like the integrated fridge, shows that the model aims to attract consumers seeking more than just transportation, but a complete experience.

However, for Nissan to consolidate this advance, the company will need to expand its offerings and adapt its products for markets outside of China, especially in Brazil, where cost still represents a significant barrier.

Meanwhile, local and global competition does not relent, accelerating launches and investments in technologies that change the game for electric vehicles.

In light of this scenario, the question for Brazilian consumers remains:

Will Nissan be able to bring the N7 or another competitively priced model to Brazil soon, or will the national market continue to wait for affordable and technological electric vehicles?
