In the Chinese market, the first official information addresses the entry-level configuration with engine 1.6 naturally aspirated with 135 hp and 16.2 kgfm of torque, mated to a CVT transmission.
This is the evolution of the powertrain already known in Asia, with a calibration focused on efficiency.
The main technical highlight, however, is the full hybrid variant with electric propulsion technology (e-POWER).
In this setup, a 136 hp front electric motor powers the vehicle, while the 1.2 gasoline engine with 72 hp operates solely as a generator to recharge the battery.
This arrangement eliminates the need for external charging and favors urban consumption, maintaining the immediate response typical of electric vehicles.
Performance and consumption figures for the new generation have not yet been disclosed for Brazil, but the mechanical basis coincides with the setup already used in the Sylphy e-Power sold in China.
Launch Of The Sentra 2026
With the design registered with the Chinese regulatory body, the debut in the Asian country is imminent.
Specialized publications indicate that the presentation of the new generation will occur between late 2025 and early 2026 in global markets, with the United States on the radar of this schedule.
For Brazil, there is only an indication of proximity: camouflaged units have been circulating in Minas Gerais and São Paulo since the first half of the year, but the manufacturer has not confirmed a local launch date.
Interior And Expected Equipment
Although the interior images have not yet been detailed at this stage, it is expected that the Sentra 2026 will follow the interface evolution seen in other recent Nissan models, with larger screens for multimedia and instrument cluster, in addition to an expanded suite of driving assists.
Among the items that are likely to be retained or updated according to the brand’s standard, the Safety Shield 360, adaptive cruise control, blind spot warning, and autonomous emergency braking should be included.
Confirmations for the Brazilian package, however, will depend on the official announcement.
Direct Rivals Of The Sentra 2026
The advancement in design and the offering of hybridization positions the Sentra in direct competition with the Toyota Corolla and Honda Civic, references among electrified midsize sedans.
In some markets, the Chevrolet Cruze also figures as a direct competitor, especially where it is still sold.
The new visual signature — with sharp DRLs and a continuous rear light — indicates Nissan’s bet on increasing the perception of technology and modernity to compete for consumers who prioritize efficiency, active safety, and connectivity.
